Ryan just tweeted that the UT women picked up a commitment form Nancy Kessler a 6-3 or 6-4 center from Canada. This will be for 2014.

Good news. Love it when we get bigs. Didn't we have another player from St. Catherines? This staff has started to step up its recruiting IMO.

Karen Hoogendam (sp) was from the ST. Catherines area..
January 24, 2012 review of top local talent included this analysis:

Quote:Nancy Kessler – 6'4" – Centre – Grade 10
High School – St. Francis Phoenix (St. Catharines)
Club – N/A but participating in the St. Catharines CYO Elite Training Basketball Program run by Brock Basketball alum Dave Picton
Accolades – Ontario U15
Strengths – Tremendous potential, height, long wingspan, mobile, can run the floor, posts up, plays around the rim, decent rebounding
Development areas – Less dependent on size, awareness and positioning, more physicality, ball handling, add a jump shot and a face up game from off the post

Other articles listed her as a 6'3" forward

Hope she is still growing

I choose the 6'4" one.

She's not afraid of contact and working on her outside game. Looks like a nice get.

Saw Toledo has offered one of the Toledo Rogers girls, a forward. Michigan is the competition, who already has one Rogers commitment and E. Michigan, which has three. Nice to see locals being able to find good programs close to home but still hope we get one or two out of the local high schools at least every couple years.

By the time she gets here she'll be 5'5'....
If 190.5 cm is correct, she is 6'3" tall.

I'll take it and 1 cm at a time is great
Kessler helps her U17 team win Gold at the 2013 Canada games. Always helps to get recruits who already know how to win.

Nice article on Kessler: http://www.stcatharinesstandard.ca/2013/...rd-tourney

Quote:In the first three days of NCAA coaches being allowed to contact Kessler directly to express their interest, the St. Catharines native received more than 30 phone calls and e-mails.
...
“I did 12 (unofficial) visits which was a lot to take in but it really showed me what I wanted in a school,” Kessler said. “Everywhere I went, I would always compare it back to Toledo so that also sold me. Toledo is where my heart is.”

and this article lists her as 6'4"
