Another useless but fun preseason list.

They have the Owls of Rice at #1.
We don't have the kind of top level elite talent in any single running back that some others have, but we do have a lot of balance. Charles Ross and Turner Petersen are a bruising 1-2 punch who always seem to fall forward. McHargue is maybe the best running quarterback in the conference...looks to run almost too quickly sometimes. Backup (for now) Driphus Jackson is also a very talented runner who can break plays with his agility.

The article also mentions Jeremy Eddington, who has been very good when used as a RB, but I think we're moving him to tight end this year...who knows how much he'll move around. We have our own version of the wildcat with Luke Turner at qb, who is also a very good runner (102 yards on 15 carries vs. Tulsa, for example).

Bailiff's offense is very run-heavy, because McHargue is solid as a passer, but won't likely win you that many games with his arm. I think it's a fair pick
Solid review of MT. Jordan Parker will be a name that everyone will know by the end of the season.
I expected a lot more butthurt than this.
Our backs average 5.5 yards a carry combined and we're adding a really good running back transfer. Funny.

while that may be true, the issues at qb allow the defense to load the box so it doesn't matter how good they may be, you can't run through the entire defense consistently. now if DT or BB prove that they can throw the ball and the receivers become playmakers, jimmerson, byrd, and pegram will have a field day behind that offensive line...

but those are big ifs...

Personally I think we'll end up with one of, if not the best rushing attack in the conference, but as a newbie and unknown quantity I understand why we are where we are.

Yep, I predict a championship and possible perfect season for UNT this year. Too much awesome.

The Herd finished 4th in CUSA last yr and returns the entire Off so with Cato and Shuler my guess is we will rush the ball OK
All of these pre-season predictions mean very little and they will be all but forgotten in a matter of weeks.
I wouldnt go that far but I would say take em with a grain of salt. Or maybe two grains.

I go with two, ECU's review has the starter right, but little else. Marquez Grayson is too good to keep off the field and could change Coop for the top spot before the end of season, and Hairston, Hunter, Furr, Pasut, Allen will get carries as well. Lane didn't make it, failed to qualify.

Side note, they got the last name backwards, it's Breon Allen and Terrell Lane.
Latech has Dixon and King. If King is healthy, best combo in CUSA. King is Barry Sanders quick and Dixon runs a lot like Eric Dickerson. With the new coach, I expect to run the ball a lot more until the passing game is ready for prime time.

I think Tech and Rice will be the top 2 in west division for rushing. Idk too much about the east. I do remember playing ECU in 1989. Crazy game we had over 550 yards and lost because of 5 turnovers.

Wait... so La Tech has Barry Sanders & Eric Dickerson??? Watch out, Bama! #Darkhorse National Champs

At least you don't use hyperbole much.
Cooper will be the starter. He earned it last year and could very well be the best RB in C-USA.

Marquez Grayson, a big-time recruit (Offers from ECU, Clemson, Duke, NC State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech) will get touches.

Outside of that... I don't see us using anyone else too much except to give Coop & Grayson a breather.

Dixon broke Marshall Faulk's freshman TD record, led the nation in scoring, and was a freshman all-American. King started ahead of Dixon for the first 3 games of the season before he got hurt. They are very, very good.

Yes, they are good. How isyour line?
We don't know how our line is, yet. Obviously, they are new starters. My bet is they will be just fine.
