Well we knew there were gay priests based on their attraction to little boys. So this morally suspect Pope, thinks gay priests are okay, not only violating the celibacy pledge, but even more serious violating sex outside marriage which goes against Biblical doctrine. It's okay for a priest to pack fudge, but not to enter a heterosexual marriage.
I don't have time to read the links. Did he say it was okay for the Priests to ACT on their, whatever, tendencies?

Basically it's not his place to judge. I agree, but it is his DEFINITE place to advise people about sin, and IF you are a Bible believing Christian Unrepentant sin = Hell.
Guess he would be saying they would have to abstain from their fudge packing as priests,
but not sure he is saying that.
He also said no female priests, that that had been settled previously.
Wonder what happens when some American priest decides to get a sex change under Obamacare?

pedo jokes aside, this is a sign that times are changing. the church knows that the amount of public approval towards homosexuality has grown and is now an issue that going forward, taking the homophobia path is an argument that they cant win.

The Church demands that all priests live according to the vows they take when they are ordained — one of which is celibacy, refraining from sex gay or straight.
The Church would consider sex by a priest as a grave sin whether hetero or gay.

That is my understanding as well. Nothing wrong with having gay urges according to the church, just don't act on them. The same goes for heterosexual urges (unless it's within a marriage).

Ill have to run this by my Catholic Relatives but I think so long as the priest renounces the sin and abstains there is no moral issue. It's not the height of wisdom to put a man attracted to other males in the position in my opinion, but it's not morally reprehensible either.

Public opinion should not shape your faith (unless you are part of the Episcopal Church) For Christians Biblical doctrine does not change. As for the path of "homophobia" there is NO such thing, that is an invention of the Gay Agenda crowd. It is NOT God's place to change according to what man wants, but man's place to maintain the standards God wants. If gays don't like the fact that homosexuality is a sin according to the Bible, find another faith. I hear Islam is really accommodating. If the church is constantly changing to conform to public approval then the church isn't built on faith, but on adding members and raising money.

Your statement is very accurate, pastor at my church preached on that. We cannot treat sinners differently because of their sin. We can only help them repent and move away from it.
