Sometimes things DO happen more frequently now than in the past. But for a lot of things, it's simply the instant access we have to countless media sources now, 24/7, that give the impression that such-and-such is happening with more regularity.

Gone are the days of just a local AM news station, the 6 o'clock news and the evening paper.
