Wow, suspension for a full year, can't even begin to fathom what the infraction could have been. Any insider info...?
That's a pretty sizable blow to our offense in the short-term, given that we were probably looking to take some pressure off of Heinicke. However, it does mean we get a little continuity and a strong senior RB if he sticks around for 2015.

Hope he takes this like a man, works his butt off, and comes back next year to kick butt.
I hate to see this, But I have to say that Coach Wilder won't compromise when it comes to conduct issues. I admire him for that and I think the program will be better off for it in the long run.

+1
Very unfortunate for Tyree Lee and the team......and of course the fans that would like to see some running game with the stellar passing game. I hope Tyree finds out what his priorities are and focuses in on the right ones.
It's a shame, but I applaud Coach Wilder for standing strong on his guiding principles -- good person first, then good student, then good athlete. I am confident that somewhere down the road, Lee will be the first to thank him.
Wilder is building the culture of this team around discipline and accountability, and it will pay dividends this season and for every season afterward. Monarchs Football is more than a stats sheet, stadium, or scoreboard.
Harvey Taylor.
Tyree never red-shirted.. Will he still have 2 more years of eligibility or 1?
Well, he'll have 2 years left if ODU declares this season a redshirt after it's over.

can you do that? if a player is suspended you can chalk it up to a RS season?
As I understand it, the only criterium is that he did not compete in 2013. According to NCAA bylaws, each student-athlete automatically has five years from initial enrollment to accomplish four years of competition in one sport. It is simply an ODU decision of whether or not they want him to have his fourth year of competiton. If it is an internal ODU decision to withhold him from competition, I do not think the NCAA cares why.

I am pretty confident I stated this correctly. If someone knows something different, please fire away.
We will have a really nice group of backs in 2014 with Bradshaw, Lawry and Harper to looks forward to and possibly more. That's becoming a position of strength.
Funny how sports work out, Angus Harper was the started and was passed on the depth chart by Lee and then he transferred for more playing time. Had he just stayed, he would've been in line for the starting role pretty easily.

It's an internal team suspension. It's not NCAA mandated or anything.
And I presume that while the reason for the suspension is serious, it's not serious enough to preclude Wilder from using him in a pinch (if they're down to one back or something), because he'll still be practicing with the team throughout the year.
I fully support Bobby wilder and everything he does.

He is running a tight ship, which, when you consider the state of the men's basketball team, is EXACTLY what odu needs.

Kudos to bobby and hopefully tyree will take this in the right spirit and use it as motivation to become a great monarch!

This would be embarrassing for Wilder. That will never happen.

Agreed. He's not going lift a suspension early. That would go against everything he is trying to instill in his players.
