You do realize Navy plays a bunch of sports. I just don't have those numbers. Nor do I have Hawaii's.

NB, are these numbers the sports these schools play only in the AAC / MW or is this ALL sports?
What about a school like UCONN who plays men's & women's hockey, field hockey and women's lacrosse in other conferences? Are those 4 sports included in the 20?

Yeah I know NB. I thought you inadvertently left them off the list and by the way you listed Hawaii with -1 , that you were only listing sports they'll play in either the MWC or AAC.

I know Temple sponsors 24 mens and womens varsity sports. I think it needs to be researched by university and not conference.
To put this in perspective this is how the current teams line up in terms of number of sports sponsored:

A few notes.
- I used Wikipedia for the source. It listed conference sponsored sports per school and per team, and teams each school sponsored outside of the conference
-For AAC teams the men's and women's numbers don't add up to the total number. I went to each schools individual page to get the correct number of teams, since teams in other conferences were not listed, but I could not always find which sports they were, so I just added to the total.
- Hawaii 's numbers are included with the MWC even though they play in multiple conferences.
- Numbers include sports sponsored outside of their current conference
- Averages are for future full-time members (i.e. AAC average does not include Rutgers or Louisville)
I thought 16 was the minimum number of sports a school had to sponsor to play FBS football.

NCAA.com is the best place to get these numbers per school....
I actually found it. Hawaii was hard because I did pay attention and did not realize they had a separate entry for men's (7) and women's (12) teams, whereas every other individual school had both grouped together. They have 19 total sports.
Worrisome that the Big East schools have more sports and most do not sponsor football on any level.

not worrisome at all. Most programs in the country do not create a profit from football alone, so the extra 80 scholarships used on football can be used for other sports. Im actually surprised they do not have more.

Although I'm not their biggest fan right now, those schools did have serious athletic departments, just no big time football. The Big East was a true big time all-sports conference.
Oh I know. I just meant that one sport sport the difference between 4th and 8th place, if they had football, and a corresponding women's sport (or 2 or 3) they would be up there with the PAC 12 and ACC, ahead of the SEC and Big XII.
