This is board related because of the land purchase to build a parking lot, but what I thought was interesting was the second comment on the article.

It might be indicative of your average al.com commenter's perspective on life.

Not sure how close to campus it is in regards to blocks, but it does seem like a "remote" parking lot.

How does this fit into any of UAB's plans by having a remote parking lot?

Just wondering.
That's a big ole parking lot.
Where is this lot in relation to the 4th ave exit from I-65 South? Could this imply that some are thinking of an OCS west of I-65?
Just down the road from the other new purchase, hummmmmm

Two phrases, my friend, I've learned from first hand experience not to wear on a T-Shirt around here, "Beat Memphis" & "It's A Done Deal." I am waiting this time, with breath unheld, on when something of substance actually comes to actual fruition, until then, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...?" 05-stirthepot
By the way, I think the lot in question is on the westbound side of the interstate, I'm gonna drive by there on my way home from work and see.
It'll be remote parking for the transportation system. The goal is to eventually have zero surface parking lots in the main part of campus. Surface parking will be in the remote lots and people will have to use the transportation system to get around.
I believe you are correct. 13th street is the first street on the east side.
Long range it could also be prime parking for the OCS.
;-)

anybody know if there hiring? and do they drug test? if they do, for what?
@Blazerman: It's relatively close about a block and a half or two from Bartow Arena & the old Wallace Gym.
Speaking of which, we had a co-op from Alabama that was going to intern with us.
Well, we drug test people prior to hiring them as well as drug test randomly after you are hired.
One of the "random" drug tests happens to be on your first working day.
Roll Tide guy failed the drug test on his first working day.

Thanks. I got mixed up with the address that they are moving to.

This address is just on the other side of the interstate.
400 10th St. South.
It's not parking for an OCS because we are never getting one. Ever. As a matter of fact our football program will be completely shuttered within 5 years.

I had to respond to the guy:

Just tell them you attended a Snoop Dogg concert the prior night & I am sure they will give you a pass.

In my professional experience, after the initial pre-employment screening, most companies, while reserving the right to random test, don't want to bother with the time and expense.

That changes in two circumstances that I've noticed:

1. You start getting weird.

2. You have a history.
