To play the MWC champ.

The Pac-12 will be there, but they haven't announced yet whether the MWC will be there after this year.

From the press release:

Quote:ESPN Regional Television (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN, and the Las Vegas Bowl have announced a six-year extension with the Pac-12 Conference that will keep the league competing in the game through at least 2019.

The bowl game will stage its 22nd edition this December during the last year of the current contract. Negotiations with a second partner conference for 2014 are ongoing.

The MWC not so formally announced their association a while back.

Yes. But the MW specifically declined to announce thier bowl line up at their media days.

anone know what selection # the sun bowl will be getting from pac 12 going forward?

yep. I think they are working out if it'll be the 1st selection or #2 or #3. I did read that the LV bowl didn't have to take the champion.

would the MWC rather face Pac 12 #6 or AAC #1 in a bowl?

True. But after that I personally would like to play the first available AAC school. The LV bowl will be a #7/8 pick...not good for top 3 teams.
