I cannot wait to watch Kuran on our new court.

No.4 on that list may not pan out like they hope- Both him and his family are already causing trouble for Floyd.
I'll wait for TC summation of this

They're causing trouble for Floyd? Dude's grandmother is sick and he wants to be close to her, so Floyd (being the loser he is) is blocking his release from the NLI. It's pathetic. Here we are in the midst of the lawsuit of players vs. NCAA and Floyd makes the boneheaded comment that people bought tickets to see this one guy. This while the NCAA argues that one player doesn't make a difference.

Do you see the younger brother who has signed a NLI with UConn putting up a fight?

And they say the grandmother is sick with a 'heart condition'. A heart condition can be anything from a high blood pressure on ward.

The new USC coach has reached out to him/as has the new UCLA coach. USC/UCLA didn't want the guy until their respective coaches got the can. New coaches have a bare cubbard and are trying to get high calibar players. There has been tampering from coaches. You're crazy if you think the kid is trying to get out of an NLI for his grandmother.
From what I understand, granma was sick when he signed. LA is a ONE day drive. It takes 2 hrs. longer than driving from Fort Worth to ElPaso. It's a 2 hour flight. Some of their fans HAVE purchased season tickets because they signed this guy.

Normally, I side with the player in these situations. This time I'm with Floyd.

This smacks of interference from someone connected to USC. Some kind of family payoff is involved-and Floyd knows it.
That's why he's being an a**H*** about it.

Do you not understand that THIS is the root of the issue? The university system pressures a kid into singing an NLI, which is a one way contract. "Fans" buy tickets because they're moronic enough to think one player is going to make a team competitive. This ONE player had increased revenue for the school and sees nothing in return. Yet when he wants out for reasons that, at face value, are legitimate, he can have his future messed with by this goof?

The kid is getting nothing for his commitment. The school is seeing noticeable increases in revenue just from his being there. Why is it okay in college athletics for one party to have so much leverage while the other has none?

If you can't do the time, don't sign on the line.

NLI's are ridiculous though, because one side isn't giving any consideration. Student is bound by the letter, but school isn't. They shouldn't be enforceable.

That's a separate issue that's being evaluated as we post.
At this time, it has NOTHING to do with the UTEP situation.
What you're describing is everyday business at all schools presently.

How are the validity and intentions of an NLI a separate issue when talking about a player wanting to be released from an NLI?

How would Floyd know how USC payoffs work? 05-stirthepot
What?? Dude. Seriously. Stop confusing the issue.
This thread is about a player attempting to transfer.
You're attempting to argue The NCAA's no pay for play rules of amateurism.
If you wish to pontificate on amateurism, go find a thread where that's being discussed.
OR start one yourself.

DON'T HIJACK THIS ONE.
