With all the talk about the P5 splitting from the NCAA. I was wondering if the SEC should expand and split itself away from all the other conferences. I know it seems silly. But what if say the Big12 and the SEC became one conference, with its own playoffs, and its own rules. Or it could be the ACC and SEC that formed one. What our ya'lls thoughts?

I thought about it about 2 years ago and figured it would make better sense at 36 teams.

Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor, Texas Christian, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St.

Arkansas, Kansas, Kansas State, L.S.U., Missouri, Texas A&M

Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi, Mississippi St., Tennessee, Vanderbilt

Kentucky, North Carolina, N.C. State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, WVU

Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Georgia, , South Carolina, Wake Forest

Central Florida, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, So. Fla.

(or some variation thereof with enough of the borderline schools who have great fan support to permit a competitive bell curve to develop most years.)

There would be an annual dispute as to the true national champ.
No, I enjoy watching the SEC beat down snobby B1G, PAC and ACC programs. If that happens, the SEC will become regional again.

Ultimately, I think we will get a new division and not a split.
Will only happen if the southern states find a way to divorce themselves from United Soviet Socialist States...in which case it WILL be a national title

See, everyone believes the national divide is Plains/South vs. NE/West Coast when in reality its urban vs. rural with the suburbs acting as the 'swing vote'. Thus, it'll be hard to achieve any form of separation.
