IIRC the Blazer Band only makes one road trip per year. I assume they will be at Troy. Does anyone know if they plan on making it to an away conference game?
They'll be marching at Troy and Vanderbilt.
Gracias.
de nada.
Yeah, just ask a band dad. Hey Smaug, you wanna swap screen names? >grin<

03-lol That'd blow a few fuses.
Sweet. I might get to see them up at Vandy! Go Blazers go! (band and team)
Unfortunately, Baton Rouge is too early in the season for a big-time road trip for the band. They toyed with the idea of taking that trip too, though.
We should have a huge crowd at both games.
How big is the band this year? I wish we had an effective strategy to increase the size of the band. While others will disagree I think a large and loud band really contributes to the football experience.
Kind of like naming your band New Kids on the Block or naming yourself Kid Rock.

I think we're big enough, but I'm not sure of the exact size this year. It still should be in the neighborhood of 170, including auxiliaries.
I have always been in favor of a big band at UAB. But I, as a band director will tell you, I would rather have a smaller group that is fantastic than a big huge mess of loud and not very good. Quality ALWAYS trumps quantity. We have quality. Quantity will take care of itself in the future.
Reminds of of Little Smaug's impression of Troy's band, "They sure are loud." 03-lol
I have really grown to appreciate the quality of our band. Their arrangement of The Star-Spangled Banner is one of my favorites.

I do love it when the Marching Southerners play, though. That amount of volume has a definite impact on the atmosphere at a game.

Like winning football games?
Should be a good halftime show between Troy and UAB. The band at UAB gets better every year. Dr. Zingara has had a hand in that no doubt. He was my Trumpet Professor at Troy for many years. One of the very best in the business. You guys got quite a steal with Dr. Z.
It'll be Little Smaug's first game in a college marching band. I'm pretty stoked. Look for the little 5-foot-nothin' alto sax.

I'm not a huge fan of our version of the National Anthem. I also wish we could get a new arrangement of the fight song that sounds fuller and less amaturish.
