Simple question

Would Wimp win the watered down sbc with the current roster?
I don't have a clue whether or not Wimp could win the league because I don't have a clue what we have or what the other teams have, but I still believe that he'd have a better chance to win it than Shields will. Shields couldn't carry Wimp's jock as a floor coach, in fact that probably a whole lot of coaches that can. But Steve is a better coach than Platt or Moncrief was.

Based on what some of you think who really study and keep up with this stuff, I believe that we can be pretty good, but if I were a gambler, I'd bet against us winning it all. The coach could be the missing link. My vote was based completely on observing Wimp for five years here, and it had nothing to do with what he did at Alabama, and on observing Shields for ten years. No contest.
Coaches can improve just as players do. I've heard of some coaches that say they evaluate themselves after each season to see what they can improve on. I have seen some signs of Steve giving players a little more latitude in recent years. If he can keep evolving as a coach, who's to say he couldn't go from a "good coach" to a "great coach". We all love Steve as a person and everyone wants him to succeed along with the program. He will definitely have the talent to compete this year. Whether we can win will be decided on the court. But his use of players will have a lot to do with that. Steve is a very smart man, and I believe he'll continue to work to his strengths and attempt to improve on his weaknesses as a coach. If he does, we're in good shape. I'm not making any predictions, but I think we'll certainly be stronger this season than any season for awhile. Especially if WN and Leroy stay healthy.
