Quote:Watch Live Online!
There will be three opportunities to watch LIVE video coverage of the 2013 ACC Football Kickoff. The ACC Football Kickoff Commissioner’s Forum, featuring a live question-and-answer session with the media, will be broadcast Sunday, July 21 at 12:30 p.m. Following that, a pair of players from each ACC school will participate in interview sessions on Sunday, July 21 from 1:30 until 6 p.m., while all 14 ACC head coaches will be featured in interviews on Monday, July 22 from 2 until 6 p.m. Archived footage will also be available there after each session.
Nice to see the new faces but...wearing game jerseys without pads makes for a unique look.
I heard it took all of 6 minutes for Swofford to mention "the best basketball conference ever assembled" during his speech at the football media days.

Swofford also said a majority of #ACC supports adjusting league's bowl revenue distribution.

Swofford on changing bowl $$ distribution: "I think we’d want to have it in place for this year’s games if at all possible."

David Teel @DavidTeelatDP 8h
Swofford says "competitive equity" between the Atlantic and Coastal the key reason #ACC content with divisions as they are. “That doesn’t mean it couldn’t change some time in the future, but so far those discussions have kept us where we are from a divisional standpoint.”

David Teel @DavidTeelatDP 8h
Swofford on litigation versus Maryland: "I would say so far, so good." #ACCKickoff But the Terps' athletic teams, he said, "in playing their last year in our league, deserve the very best of the ACC, and that's what they will receive."

Swofford was asked about attending Miami's NCAA Committee on Infractions meeting in June in Indianapolis.

"What I took away is I thought the University of Miami and their personnel and their leadership and Mike Glazier handled it extraordinarily well," Swofford said. "I would hope that whatever is coming from the NCAA will come before the season starts. I'd be very disappointed if that was not the case."

Brett McMurphy @McMurphyESPN 8h
Swofford asked if Miami should get additional NCAA penalties: "nothing shocks me but I'd surprised & disappointed"

6:20 to be exact.

Wonder how many time Mike Slive discussed SEC hoops in his football press conference.

Agreed. Swoffie is back-sliding.
I think the bowl revenue shifting is a positive for the bigger football schools?

I would imagine

No doubt. There are more positives than negatives, IMO. However, I agree with the FSU & Clemson fans that it's not really appropriate to talk about basketball at the annual Football Kickoff meeting - it sends the wrong message, IMO. (This after the very positive not scheduling any basketball games on National Signing Day, so this seems like back-sliding).
Chryst is on now. Beamer is supposed to be on at 2:15.

Good.

Absolutely no reason FSU, Clemson, VT or whomever should make the same amount from the conference as Virginia and Duke, among others.

Also absolutely no reason that schools like UNC and Miami made the same amount off of football last year as schools who were actually ELIGIBLE. That's complete BS.

Schools should be able to keep part of their bowl payout. Schools should be able to keep part of their NCAA Tourney credits.

Slive did mention SEC hoops in his state of the union SEC speech at their media days. He said something about them having 3 of last 8 NCAA champs (KY & FL), and said that how they did this last year(s) was unacceptable and they would get better. He knows they've sucked by and large and it is a bone of contention for them, at least...
Did he do it 6 minutes in? Is the SEC trying to overcome an image that they only care about basketball?

In yet another instance where the ACC shows it us clueless about football a number of schools are pushing for every team to play a conference game for the final regular season game. I can't. Imagine a scenario where. Clemson fans get excited about closing out the regular season with anyone but South Carolina. We have done it three times in my lifetime (1982 vs Wake in Tokyo, 1991 vs Duke in Tokyo, and the 9/11 rescheduled Duke game) none of them felt like anything other than a let down. The season is supposed to end playing your rival. Anything less is shortchanging your fanbase.
Have the official divisional and conference media predictions come out?

Atlantic: Clemson
Coastal: Miami
Champ: Clemson (79% of the vote)

I watched the whole address. There was nothing in there about playing a conference game to end the season. It was actually the opposite. They questioned him on playing ooc matchups to end the season and Swofford mentioned both in and out of conference matchups being utilized already and that would continue.

As far as the basketball stuff. Swofford specifically said he was going to discuss the ACC then get into football. He touted the academics, mentioned new members (this is where he talked about basketball), talked about footprint etc.

You are really reaching for something to ***** about if you don't want the conference commissioner to mention the other revenue sport during a segment on the state of the conference.
Who said anything about it being discussed during Swofford's speech? That is what you get for assuming something.

It is being reported by one of the reporters for a Clemson website that it has been a point of discussion the past two days. Now, unless you have been on the ground I. Greensboro talking with the people involved in these discussions I will rely on the word of an award winning journalist who has been covering Clemson athletics on a daily basis for the past decade.

Well you rely on your message board conspiracy theorists and I'll believe what he told a whole room full of reporters.
