I'm sure the Liberals will dismiss as always, since it would be a dream-come-true to be taken over by Communists...

Quote:160,000 servicemen, 1000 tanks, 130 planes and 70 ships are taking part in Russia’s biggest military drill since Soviet times. The war games will continue in the country’s Far East until July 20

Quote:A Chinese fleet of seven vessels is on its way to Vladivostok to participate in its biggest-ever foreign joint exercise with Russia. The drill, the Naval Interaction-2013, will be held from July 5 to 12 in the Sea of Japan.

The Chinese Navy has sent four guided missile destroyers, two guided missile frigates, a supply ship, three ship-borne helicopters and a special operation detachment from the port of Qingdao in eastern China.

“This marks our navy's single biggest deployment of military force in a China-foreign joint exercise,” the Chinese Defense Ministry said, as cited by AP.

In total, about 20 vessels, and more than ten planes and helicopters will take part in the naval exercises which will kick off in Peter the Great Bay near the city of Vladivostok in Eastern Russia.
Do we not have wargames on a regular basis? Do we not spend more than China and Russia combined, several times over? Exactly how, at a military level, are we "floundering" when compared to Russia and China?

You don't remember the US just having war games with South Korea, just off the coast of North Korea, China, and Russia?
I've been working on my Russian and Mandarin. I was already a good goose-stepper.

Who's with us?

South Korea. Check.
Canada. Check.
Puerto Rico. Check.

Awesome.

Sounds an awful lot like the Iraq war allies, doesn't it?

Who else is the US going to practice with in that area of the world? UK, France, Germany, etc., makes zero sense off the coast of Asia. The US basically protects Japan. You'd be in the wrong hemisphere to practice with Australia.

China and Russia share a border, just as the US and Canada share a border. Makes total sense in that regard. Yes, they want to show solidarity but if you are totally honest you probably should recognize that Russia and China are trying to discourage the other from messing around their shared border as well.
My Brother is a retired Navy Chief and I had a chance to talk with him recently. He said anyone who does not take China seriously as a Navel threat to the US withing 10 years is fooling themselves.

What does any of that, especially gay marriage, have to do with military preparedness? The only thing I see there that could possibly be related to military is domestic drones

So we're worried about the superficial? Putin is running a Soviet-style power grab. We should want Obama to do that?

How many of those, should it actually come down to it, could really challenge us? China and Russia. Egypt's military would collapse without our aid, so they are no threat. How are they "pissed" at us anyway? Syria? Who cares. Mexico? How are they pissed at us, at least in any way that would relate to military preparedness? Turkey is a member of NATO, so, unless you think a breakup of NATO is imminent, I'm not sure what your point is there. Cuba? LOL. Israel? Do you really think they would stop being our ally? Iran? Welcome to 1980. Iraq? Ok, so?

So I'm supposed to care what you think about foreign and military policy and you don't even know that Puerto Rico is part of the US?

And what about the entirety of the EU and NATO. And Australia. And Japan. And Israel (they are our ally, contrary to what you may think Obama has done). And the UK.
Just what we need. O is so off the rail, wouldn't doubt him doing something to start it all.

Could we win an all out war with China & Russia if it started tomorrow? I have doubts over the preparedness of our military and the conviction/abilities of our general populace should they be drafted.
And don't forget our joint naval exercises with a nation partner in 2010-2011 that some may consider surprising.

The U.S. is stuck in a rut while the Russians, and especially the Chinese, are building for the future. We spend our time arguing about how to divide up the pie instead of working to make the pie larger.

Liberals, Democrats, and Socialists have us bogged down with a bloated government whose only goal is to redistribute wealth. This keeps Republicans occupied with trying to slow the growth of government. Meanwhile ... Rome burns and the Chinese pass us.

Which means they're a threat now. Couple that with Russia and I'm not so sure the USA would have a chance
So those trillions we are spending on the military are wasted?

We could cut military spending by 85% and still outspend Russia and China
Whatever it takes to not become a pure socialist state.
We are getting too close now. Kick Obama out.

Wasted? No. As long as people don't respect the spineless leadership we have now(Obamadipshitoftheworldwecan'tgetridofthisretardsoonenough) no amount of spending is enough.
As OP predicted, the mindless liberals have tried to write this off. Good call on that one, they're too predictable.
