ODU stepping it up on the recruiting front....

One of hopefully many to come, if true!
This would be HUGE in local recruiting!

Especially since that would mean we beat out Chris Beatty for a recruit. He has some sway in the 757.
Kids being able to play FBS in their own back yard is a huge asset...can't underestimate he kids having an opportunity to play every week in front of their friends and family...expand the stadium and BW contract YESTERDAY! #raisethebar
Workin on getting some insider info on this kid. I work with a guy whos little brother plays with Byrum.

I showed this info to a guy at work and that's the first thing he mentioned to me. He's a VT guy but very in tune with all aspects of what's going on. Said beating out Beatty (if it happens) is huge.
Guy plays with a nasty streak on the D-side. Not needed at wide-out, but a BCS caliber nose-in-the-play safety. Would be a great commit, then need our first linebacker in this mold.

Just an aside but I'm pretty sure Coach Burden actually played for Beatty in high school.

Also, I have a hunch there will be good news today or soon.
Even if he commits, it will be holding on to him until he is signed that will be the real test.
I know Zohn Burden was. 2 sport star at Salem and Chris Beatty won multiple state titles at Landstown after that. I'm guessing Beatty got his start at Salem. This would be a head turner to local HS coaches who respect Beatty.
Christian Byrum just committed according to Recruit757.

Yes, Beatty coached at Salem a couple of years before going to Landstown.

Good point.
He committed this morning, think its a solid commitment. He took ODU over 12 other offers, including several BCS programs. Welcome to the Monarchs Christian.
I followed him yesterday. That sole act probably sealed the deal. 03-lmfao
Nice to see my old high school can still produce fantastic talent. Welcome to ODU!
Oh yeahhhhhhh!

Welcome to Monarch Nation, Christian! Congratulations to BW and staff!
