The dog days of summer are in full swing, and with Tiger football right around the corner I thought it'd be fun to do some reminiscing. So the question is, Who are the greatest players to ever wear a Tiger uniform? It's probably been debated 1,000 times on this board but oh well it's new to me. So I'd like to go through the positions and please feel free to share the players you feel have really shaped Tiger football.

QB- Steve Matthews or Danny Wimprine?
RB- No Argument
WR- Isaac Bruce, Earnest Grey, Mo Avery, Duke Calhoun?
TE- ?
All Everything- Brett Russell, Will Hudgins?
DL- Coot Terry
DB- Idrees Bashir, Wesley Smith?
K- Stephen Gostkowski
Returner- Kevin Cobb?
TE...Chris Powers, in for no other reason, "the catch".
DW #1 regardless of position
QB - Patterson (from my older days POV - just thought he was incredibly entertaining)
RB - DW, T. Middleton
OL - Schuh
WR - Bruce, Gray (also liked D. Crawford)
DL - Poe
LB - Butler
DB / S - Burroughs, K. Simpson
Bramlett and James Earl Wright doe
I like the throwback nominees. My knowledge only really goes from about the Scherer era to now so I cant speak on before that.
KR: I liked Ryan Roskelly a lot. And Kevin Cobb has this:

All Everything-Mo Avery (Honorable Mention)
Also WR - Russell Copeland

My favorite - Danton Barto

Wimprine meant more to the program; Matthews the better QB.

Kicker - Allison
I don't know what play gives me bigger chills, Cobb's return or Deangelo's run against UTEP with Billy Barefield as his lead blocker.
There are several D linemen I'd put right there with Poe. Tony Williams comes to mind. Jerome Woods, Mike Mckenzie, and Ken Irvin in the d backfield.

I remember exactly where I was when this happened...fox and hound sanderlin watching the game with my father.

Tim Harris was so fast and explosive for his size. He's my favorite Tiger LB.
Octavian Sharp and Eric Fairs were good as well.
Come to think of it...the Tigers linebackers of the mid-80's were fantastic.
Greatest play i've ever seen in person.
Any list without Billy Fletcher is not a complete list.

A native of Memphis, Billy Fletcher earned All-American honors playing quarterback at South Side High School where he also played basketball, baseball, and ran track. Fletcher was a member of South Side’s state championship track team in the 4 X 400 and 4 x 800 relays. Following graduation, Fletcher was recruited by major colleges and universities across the country, but he chose to stay at home and play for Memphis State University. Fletcher played for the Tigers from 1963-65 and it was during that period that Memphis State posted its best six-year record in school history. While starring at Memphis State University, Fletcher was named Sports Illustrated National Player of the Week, Associated Press National Player of the Week and UPI National Player of the year. Following graduation, Fletcher played in the Blue-Gray Game and shortly thereafter was drafted by the Denver Broncos of the National Football League. Following his stint with the NFL, Billy Fletcher returned to Memphis. He has been inducted into the Memphis University “M Club” Hall of Fame, has been awarded the “M Club” lifetime Achievement Award, and has been inducted into the All-American Football Foundation Hall of Fame.
