What sticks out to me?

UTEP....what's up? Everyone else has beaten a "big-boy" in the past 11 years...get w/ the program! Jk 05-stirthepot

I'm shocked that Tulsa and Marshall hasn't beat more "big-boys"....
ODU will have at least one to add to that list this year.
Not sure why, but I'm kinda shocked to see that we are #4 behind ECU, USM, and La Tech. I guess it's all the close calls that we've had over the years. Seems like we blow one every season. I'm sure many of you feel the same way.
Power 5 is what they call themselves now.
Note taken BeliefBlazer. Gonna make the correction.
Had Kansas State beat in 2005 and WVU in 2010 but couldn't get the job done.

2004 03-banghead

Our administration plans on playing two P5 teams every year now. One "high level" and one "mid level". For example we have LSU and Vandy this year. I suppose playing more of the mid level teams will increase our odds of eventually beating one or two of them.
Marshall also beat Clemson and south carolina but cant remember the years
Can't believe I just pulled this up, but easily the worst moment of my MT fanhood:

Shouldn't have even come to that. I'm going to go puke now.
Beat @South Carolina in 1998
@Clemson in 1999
@Kansas St. 2003
@Louisville 2011

Almost had
@ Georgia @ Tennessee @ Ohio St. @ Michgan St. Between 2000-2004
vs Kansas St. 2005
vs WVU 2010

"Almost" counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. It's either a win or a loss in football.07-coffee3
Yeah if we're throwing out "Almost had"...

ECU ALMOST beat..

South Carolina (in Charlotte...blew a 17 point halftime lead)
Kentucky (Liberty Bowl ugh...)
Arkansas (Liberty Bowl...missed 3 field goals...ugh)
NC State ('08 in Raleigh...lost in OT)
VT like 3 times (in addition to the time we DID beat them)

And I know they're technically not a P5 team, but we did beat Boise State in '07.

That WVU game in 2010 is the sort of thing that fans/players/coaches will never forget.
Who all has been "cheated" into a loss against a Money Conference team ?

We got cheated on a spot against Virginia, that would have sealed the game. We had a first down by over a yard (from 3 different TV angles).

We then punted with about a minute and a half left-- and you know the rest of the story 03-banghead

11 years? I wish it's been 11 years. Try 46. Probably the longest drought in college football right now. And, it's not going to change this year unless we get to a bowl.

I'll give you "Almost Had" status against Tennessee and Ohio State, but we were never in positions to win the Georgia and Michigan State games.

Against 2004 Georgia, the Herd kicked a field goal on the opening drive - and then proceeded to do absolutely nothing offensively the rest of the game. We had 160 yards total offense (64 of which on the opening drive). Though we held them in check as well, we never crossed midfield the rest of the game.

Michigan State had us down 17 through most of the 4th quarter, and we scored a meaningless TD as time expired to show the final as a 10-point game. Tied after the first half, but they dominated the second half.

Don't forget that Bama game.

How many of you have ever seen defensive holding called on a defensive lineman? Worse, it was called on a number that didn't even exist on our team. Worstest, it occurred on a 4th down where we stopped them that would have sealed the win against the Tide. Instead the end result was Bama 39, MT 35.

I know you didn't forget that one kajun.

BTW, I still blame that UVA game on Stockstill for not challenging the spot. He just punted and gave it back to them.
BTW, we beat Vandy three times not two...not that it really counts since its Vandy.
