I see

FSU

That would be 9. This is for 2014 meaning Louisville will be in the conference too.

Thanks for the correction...somehow overlooked NC State...really like what Steve Addazio is doing @ BC...
Yes in his first year. People seem to forget that BC used to be good in football.

With the recruiting going on with the entire conference and the upgrade of coaches @ schools like Boston College, NC State, UNC & Miami and @ least stability @ Pitt, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Clemson, WF & FSU the Football side on the uptick.

That was the second 5* for this class, and those 2 are both in the top 11 in the nation.

9.5 if we include the Irish as a half-member since 2014 is when they start playing 5 games against the ACC. 03-wink

Thank you for remembering. I'm a typical skeptical New Englander, but, I have to admit that I'm excited by what Addazio is doing. Let's just say that I'm cautiously optimistic that my Eagles are on the road back. It'll take a bit....Spaz was a disaster. First goal...return to respectability. Go BC!!!
If the teams in this league do what they are capable of this league will be ridiculously good.

I'd settle for a consistent Top 3-4 league in football myself with the occasional #2 thrown in from time to time.

Neil

Please, no more posts on how the ACC can be #2. There is no reason why the ACC can't be the #1 football conference. You guys are aiming too low.

Not sure how BC or NC State are upgrades. Spaziani was terrible but what the has Addazio proven? And Doeren has a nice 2-year stint at a program that was already on the upswing by his predecessor. TBD, imo.

You'd have to call Duke stable, too, right? Even if they aren't very successful.

Be interesting to see how many commitments stick if it's a non-bowl type of season for UVA.

People have been saying that for years but the results haven't changed much.

Yea there is. It's called the SEC. The ACC might be the #2 conference someday but it seems highly unlikely it'd ever jump to #1.

I call it being realistic. If an SEC fan says they will one day be #1 overall conference in basketball, would we and BiG fans take them seriously? I know I wouldn't.

Could they pull it off one year? Maybe, but highly unlikely. Maybe the ACC might do it one year in football as well. But it won't be a consistent thing, imho.

Doesn't mean the SEC should not try in bb or the ACC keep trying in football. But I'd settle for not being considered the 5th best fb conference anymore.

Cheers,
Neil

The ESPN rankings now lists Virginia (#15 nationally) ahead of Louisville (#20). This is what Coach London was hired to do. When Virginia used to recruit well in the talent-rich tidewater area of the state in the 1980s and 1990s they competed at the top of the ACC and won most games in their series with VT. But then when coach Groh took over in 2001 he didn't really put the priority of recruiting in-state and, along with the addition of VT to the ACC in 2004, UVa began gradually slipping in talent year after year. London is showing promise for the long-haul to compete with VT and even beat out the big boys such as Alabama and FlaState and Clemson as they did with Andrew Brown.

Now he needs to win with that talent. If he can't, he'll be out in the next 2 years.

DL wasn't a priority for us this recruiting session since the three deep this season is made up of juniors, sophomores, and freshmen.

If the SEC teams started throwing a lot of money at there basketball coaches, they could get good in a hurry. And since they have more money, they're always a threat.
