Late 2nd round perhaps? I wonder what he did to his draft chances by playing at Oregon for a season vs. playing his final college season at Rice.
Unlikely, small forwards need to be able to shoot the ball and create a shot. Won't be such a prolific rebounder in the NBA. Morris Almond was more of a prototypical NBA player coming out and he didn't make it.
I bet he is drafted in the 2nd round. He has rebounding skills that are hard to ignore

I don't want to try and find it, but I did read an article a while ago that said rebounding was the one statistic that translated well from college to the NBA.

There are plenty of long-time (even all-star) small forwards who were primarily defensive standouts (e.g., Bowen, Prince). Also, I would think Kazemi will become (with further weight training) a power forward.

Kazemi is not likely to be drafted. Still lacking an offensive game and range on it. Those examples don't really apply. Bowen had to bounce around France and the CBA before making it in the NBA. Prince had multiple skills at Kentucky before getting drafted, though not a pure scorer. Did lots of little things well, nothing great (and despite his height, never was a good rebounder). His defensive rep is more of a late career evolution, especially after learning his craft based on NBA responsibilities.

Not saying Kazemi cannot make a roster - with the right opportunity, he might make it as a deep bench guy. But not sure that's his best option, as it's extremely difficult to develop your game with so little playing time available. The coaches just don't spend much time with those deep bench guys, and the guys don't get the confidence without playing time. Develop a midrange jumper, and he can possibly be a PF with some added strength. But to be a SF, he needs even more varied offensive game. That requires not just practice time, but playing time.

Please, some NBA team, prove me wrong. Draft him, and he will embarrass other players on your roster with his effort.
54th pick of the draft. Very surprising
Drafted by Wizards - screen crawl says proposed trade to 76ers.

Plenty of single skill guys have made a career in the NBA. Not saying AK is the next Dennis Rodman - and I still think he will need to develop a mid-range game - but he now has a shot.

Congrats to AK.

Ugh. Thanks, Rick! The gift that keeps on giving...

Congrats to Arsalan. We would all be happy if this had happened after he had stayed. Sorry to see so many negative comments...if you want to be upset direct your attention to RG. Quite the going away present for our "soon to be ex-AD" (there are just so many other things that will stay hidden) but thankfully the alums, donors, fans, and athletes will no longer have to put up with the situation.

Nice crystal ball. The NCAA run at Nike U really helped but in the end the scouts and teams that he worked out for saw the value.
There were a couple of mentions of Rice on the broadcast, though that misses the obvious win that anytime someone views his player card online, looks at draft history, etc., it will say Oregon and not Rice. To continue Tiki's train of thought, thanks RG.

BTW, would prefer he stick with my Wizards, but understand if he gets dealt. With Jan Vesely sucking up a roster spot, Kazemi is clearly an upgrade in virtually every category. Same with Chris Singleton, who was a first round pick.

+1000. Just don't understand the ill-will towards AK. He was the heart and soul of our program for 3 years, and had fully intended to complete his eligibility at Rice (even after the mass exodus of the 2012 Freshman class). He enrolled in classes for his Senior season this past August, and only filed for transfer in September after the alleged RG incident...and he plans to return to Rice to finish his degree. Why the hate from some?
Congrats to AK. Wishing him a long and prosperous NBA career

Specifically addressing the ill-will, I think people don't buy that he left because of the RG stuff, but that he used that incident as a pole to vault his way off of a sinking ship.

If he had been the only one to transfer, and the others hadn't, I think there would be less ill-will since people would be able to more firmly believe that he left because of the treatment he received. Instead, it looks more like he finally realized what the team would be like when he returned to practice and then decided to get out of Dodge.

Right...and he waited until school had already started and he had enrolled in classes, confident he would get an NCAA waiver for this season? PLEASE. For all you people who continue to believe the "alleged" RG discrimination never happened, I suggest you reconsider. Many with very reputable inside information say otherwise.
Congrats to AK. Seeing Taylor McHargue tweeting congrats and saying he'll now get a Sixers jersey is enough for me to wish AK well.

Well, considering the NCAA's policy not to investigate such matters and believe whatever is said by the player, yeah, he should have been confident.

Wish we could find out the result of Marcos' lawsuit whenever/if it is decided. That would tell us what we need to know.

I don't think anyone is under the impression that it didn't happen, and I did NOT suggest it didn't. I just discussed that there is a chance that some people don't believe that this was the REASON he left.
