Poor piece of writing...really doesn't say anything new, and the big sky commish is really only repeating what other FCS conference commissioners are trying to say, and we see how that worked out for them.

The big difference between Montana and schools like App State and Georgia Southern is that the Grizzlies do not have an FBS school to compete against. App and GSU are always fighting other in state institutions that are FBS, and are using that opportunity to win recruiting battles, because no recruit is going to honestly choose FCS over a bunch of FBS offers without some other circumstances playing a role.

Big Sky schools have no reason to move because they don't have to.
LOL! 6-6 in the SBC will give your SCHOOL more exposure than 14-1 in FCS. Period. Its not even close. Its not an illusion. Next year the AJC like it or not will talk about 4 Georgia FBS schools. GT message boards will start waxing poetic about why let GSU and GaSO move up and the effect on their recruiting. I didnt know USF existed in my high school years. They entered my radar because they play in FBS. So I'll take that "illusion" over the CAA.
"The money game road has proven, for every school that has tried it, to be a sure method to destroy even the most solid programs."

I would love for him to give a long list of "solid programs" that have been destroyed because of the move. I know a few mediocre programs that didn't handle it well, but everybody else seems to be doing ok.
That poster has had a bug up his *** about Ga Southern and App making the move since we announced. You'll see him make plenty of derogatory posts about the SBC over on AGS. Nothing to see here.
This guy is talking out of his arse. He misled Montana to keep them and is now worried.

He is continuing to talk crap but the Big Sky will be raided by the MWC in the future and there will nothing he can do about it.

He had better be thinking of how to manage football operations with all small budget teams like Southern Utah and Northern Colorado.

LFN refuses to bring his anti-FBS schtick over here to an FBS board no matter how many times I defy him to do so. There's plenty of koolaid drinkers on AGS that buy into his nonsense, but he couldn't substantiate his way out of a wet paper bag.
Ask all the AGSers who made the biggest mistake going FBS lately.

Then take their answer, and ask the fans of that school (and I can guarantee you we're gonna be in the running...) if they would actually want to go back.

Western schools as in the Big Sky also have maximum attendance problems. With a lot fewer people many of their fans now have to travel long ways to attend through desolate country a lot of times. Not like having a good product and able to pick up ten or twenty thousand more people to attend from within a couple of hours drive. Even Boise State has an upper limit and would never be able to draw like the bigger attendance schools. So, what's the point they think.

Correction 15-0 We have done it.
I read but do not post on AGS and CS. LFN point of view is just that, a point of view of that of a Lehigh fan/alum. He knows there is no way Lehigh will ever be a IA program, so why not try and bring those down trying to better themselves.

LFN either writes out of his head thinking and hoping most IAA fans will agree with him. Those that do are those schools that will never have a chance to move up. Schools with small stadiums. That or he takes facts and twist them to fit his point of view, which he does quite often.

One thing Ive never done was click on his links, he writes and gets paid for his number of hits.

LFN, at least on AGS, is FAR more concerned with belittling the FBS (especially the Sun Belt) than he is following Lehigh sports. Look at his post archive. For every Lehigh football post he has 200 that are slamming App and GaSo for going D-1a.

The AGS cult is going to believe what they believe. It it wasn't for that sort of group think, LFN would just be blogging to himself. Best to just let them live in their fantasy and avoid the subject, IMO.

And even so its a footnote.
AGS is a great board and I enjoy posting there. Though now I mostly lurk. LFN is obessed with the FBS/FCS divide. His school fits perfectly in the FCS world as do many others. Heck TExas St did until students and graduates decided they wanted FBS football and got the administration to agree. I like both levels of football and don't know why it's such a big deal to belittle one or the other. It's funny, FCS fans enjoy when D2 schools move up and say they are in a better level of football. Yet some lose that when schools move to FBS. The playoff argument is a good one but with FBS dipping its toes in a playoff format, its a matter of time before that expands as well.

If the BCS teams break away then most teams will dream of moving to that next stage as well.
Ahhhh this reminds me why I stopped going to AGS. Even when we were FCS there was hate for App and GaSo. Mainly because we ruled the threads there as well. Funny how that happens ...

Then when App and GaSo made it known that we were looking to bolt ... ohh the don't let the door hit ya on the way out comments came rolling in. Sour grapes is what this is. Everyone knows FCS is becoming extinct and the schools/conferences that can't go are trying to do all they can to add value to the division.

Not a fan of LFN. Would do well to forget the subject and concentrate on his school and what they are doing, or not doing.

Not sure all of you saw this article @ 5 days ago. Better written and with some statistics at least.

I guess if my conference mates was: Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, and Lafayette and OOC games with the likes of Mamouth, Princeton and Drake. I would be more concerned why bigger schools didn't want to play with me too.

After Appy and GSU move up there aren't that many schools that are even capable of moving up. JMU, Delaware and Montana are it. And Delaware and Montana seem to have no desire to move, at least their admins don't.

I think NDSU is capable of moving up, but they don't have a home.

I think realignment is settling down for a bit. One of JMU, Sam Houston, Missouri State, or Jacksonville State will likely get the last bid next year for the Belt and then FCS can sort out their new league.
I have followed Ga. Southern football for many years and it simply was time for us to move forward. The FCS of today is not the FCS of 10-15 years ago.

Schools with the following that App and us have need to challenge themselves. I don't want to bash the SoCon but we simply outgrew it. The same can be said for App.

I am not going to make ridiculous statements about us dominating FBS or whatever but I fully expect us and App to be very competitive in the SunBelt. It may take some time but both of our schools will not be bottom-feeders.
I was more into CS.com because it is friendlier and a no holds barred forum/atmosphere. I really enjoy/ed being able to talk (reply/post) the way I actually think and speak. And torment the guys over there; getting it right back too.

I still belong but I rarely go anymore....just occasionally.
