It's been a good series. Who ya like tonight?

Wasn't the Spurs Danny Green a UNC guy recruited by Haase? I believe he was.
I predict Clark Griswold will lose all of his money only to get it back in the last minute by getting Sid Caesar's winning lottery ticket because he only wanted to have a family.

If you watch some 35 year old rerun tonight, then you sir, are no true sports fan.

Please turn in your man-card ASAP.

No, I just don't wish to worship things that don't really matter in life.

Worship? Who said anything about worship?

I wonder if UAB will begin to place more guys in the NBA with Haase as coach. It's remarkable that there have been so few Blazers to make it to the NBA, and none that have had a sustained career.
The thread title was very clear what the thread was about. If you don't like pro basketball, there was no need to even open the thread, much less comment on it.

There are people who don't like a sport, but feel compelled to crap all over it to the people who do like it.

Then there are the people who only watch a sport at the apex of a season, like the finals, and are compelled to point out why the sport sucks or why itis inferior to the college version. They complain about players being overpaid, conspiracy theories abound and constantly complain about officials being one sided. I despise these people and wish they would join the first group.

Go Spurs!!

I doubt it. They will have to really have a lot of success and start recruiting the cream of the crop. If Haase has that kind of success, I doubt he sticks around because UAB will not pay him what it will take to keep him.
Not too many players stay with the same team anymore, making it hard to follow or care about the game.

I could name 3 players on Miami's team & 1 on the Spurs.

The playoffs are way too long and too many teams are allowed to make the playoffs.

I remember in high school watching the Celtics & Lakers play in the playoffs during 7th period.

The next day they played the next game, not 3 days later.

Had Magic, Bird, & Jordan decided to play on the same team like the Miami players did, you would have all hell break loose with the other teams raising a big stink over it.

With easy transfers and leaving early for the pros, the same is happening with college ball.

The playoffs are long, but what else is going on? Early season baseball? Please.

About half the teams make the playoffs. It is not much different than other sports.

And there was a stink raised about the Miami players as well, so I don't know what your point is.

I haven't been an NBA fan long, admittedly. I caught Grizz fever when the Grizzlies became a good team, and once I accepted the fact that it is not the same game as the college game, I started enjoying it more.

Actually with UAB stinking it up the past two seasons, it's been more fun watching NBA ball.

The Spurs have been together for a really long time now.

If he can only name one Spur, he would not know that.

Yes. Duncan, Parker, and Genobli are veterans that have been the heart of the Spurs for a very long time.
Much longer than college players stay at their school.
Amazing game. Just simple awesomeness.
Nice little pre-shot dance by LeBron. Thought I was watching a Duke game.

Please go look at the Spurs roster and see how many guys don't stay with the same team anymore. Kobe has been in LA forever. Durant and Westbrook are signed for a long time in OKC. Paul Pierce has been the face of the Celtics for quite some time. Wade has been in Miami for a while now. There are plenty of players who are good enough to stay with one team over the course of many years, you are simply ignoring that.

You obviously don't watch the NBA at all if you can name 4 players in that series.

The playoffs generate money. It is good for the league to have extra home games for as many teams as possible. The best teams tend to win 7 game series, so the number of teams really isn't an issue. What would you have, an 8 team playoff?

If you remember games being played the next day, that was back in the early 60's. And it wasn't 7 straight days, there was just an occasional back to back game. The Finals has been Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday for a while now. It's about TV exposure.

A lot of people raised hell when the Big 3 in Miami did this. They also did the same thing when LA and BOS assembled their title teams in the late 2000's.

I'm with MB on this one though, why come into an NBA thread just to rip the league?(and not doing a very good job of it, I might add)
No, back to back games were played in the 80's & even played in the afternoon because I watched them at school.

8 teams in the playoffs would be sufficient for me.

The finals used to end in late May or at least the first week in June.

It should not be extended past that in my opinion.
If you look at the dates in the 1985 playoffs, there were some games played back to back.

Most were in the prelims though & not the finals as I had thought.
