What is up with this program losing coaches just to take them back...
Apparently some coaches think "The Grass is Greener" away from Read Fieldhouse and Kalamazoo, only to find out it's not.

And to Hawkins' credit, he's open to bringing them back.
Woo hoo!

Chicago back in play!

Maybe DP is back in play as well?
It seems that Hawkins has a lot of respect from former coaches/former employees for them to come back, first Bates and now Farmer.

I am very happy with this turn of events.
Me too. I'll trade DK for LF.
03-pissed

You mean we lose Lar for season, then lose the best player on the team for a career and then we hire him back?

Love Farmer. He isnt a neophyte or ignorant. I understand the $ was quite more or so I read, re the Wolfpack. But this is a net loss without Darius Paul. Players play, coaches don't.

My question is, what was it about WMU and or Larry Farmer's position from last year that had him looking elsewhere? Why couldnt that have been addressed satisfactorily before he opted out and created the convenient excuse for DP to leave.

We will never know if LF stayed around if DP would the same. It's a shame the net loss was the best player in quite awhile.
Haven't seen anything about WHY Farmer is leaving NC State.
Not sure how WMU and Hawk is gonna handle this one. Farmer taking DK's spot is a solid 25-30k decrease in pay from where he was two years ago. Bates and Holland occupy the #1 and #2 pay slots on staff. Seems like Farmer will be taking a nasty pay cut for a year and then will likely move into one of the top 2 spots if anyone else moves on.

I'm definitely wondering what happened at NC State.

And yeah, the timing of this stinks. Glad to have LF back, but if it happens in the first week of April, we MIGHT have had a shot at keeping DP. I don't think it was likely that he stay here. But it was definitely MORE likely with Farmer on staff.

If Hawk is smart he takes a 50% pay cut and redistributes that among his assistants. Plain and simple. Those that do the work should get the pay.

Would love to see that happen. If the man wants to retire at WMU, he needs to do everything he can to put an NCAA tournament worthy team on the floor. Keeping and paying good assistants will help reach that goal.

That said, I'd be shocked if that were to happen.
Glad Farmer is back and like others, wonder what happened at NC State. The real question is how long will he stay this time?

Interesting revolving door with coaches under Hawk. Bates has left and returned twice.
