Good news - In new CUSA UAB had the second best recruiting class based on my analysis from Verbal below. UTEP had the best class by far. We are much better off than Davis ever did.

Bad news - IMO only probably very bottom of top 100 to 150 or so.
But not too bad for first full recruiting year. does not count our transfer who was a top 30 player out of HS

From Verbal - a composite of Rivals, Scout, ESPN

PS did not count JCs (just too lazy) but looked about like every else in new CUSA
we filled every need and added depth.

Auburn's roster has a star rating of 2.706 so obviously those ratings are flawed sometimes."

UAB's is 2.476
Utep 2.603
I don't believe I will have any problems sleeping tonight.
Ive been wondering if the players that signed with us in the fall would've waited til the spring to sign their NLI. Would they have received bigger offers, they may have jumped in player ratings. All I have seen their ratings do is fall since they signed in November. Most players are rated based on their offers rather than actual talent. JMO.

Generally, when a player actually signs with a non Power conference team, the "experts" quit talking about them which may result in declining rankings. The "What have you heard about Johnny so&so?" factor may lead to "Nothing" and then to lesser rankings by some who track such things.
It's more like Scout, Rivals, and the like sell subscriptions. Higher ratings make subscribers happy. Big schools with lots of paying customers tend to get better star ratings.

Many times have I seen a recruit's ranking drop after signing with us, or rise after signing with one of the big boys. That's just the game.

Add in that much like Mike Anderson, Haase is looking for a particular kind of player. A guy who is slotted into the right system can be more valuable than expected when he gets ranked.
Mo Finley had no stars. Nuff said.

+1 The only thing I might disagree with is rarely do recruits drop stars for any reason (in basketball) during there senior year. I agree but they do change upwards when the big boys recruit them. but not as much these days (particularly those with ratings above three stars) are based on the AAU circuit way before where who they sign with is known

I have never scene anyone rated below two stars - a zero star would mean not reviewed. They also tend to screw short players and those who never played AAU, like Mo another example would coach Pettaway(sic) at UAT who was also not rated and one of their best players also.

First the comparison with the rest of new CUSA should be valid since they would suffer from the same prejudice.
