I completely agree - we should ban everything that could possibly hurt someone. Lacrosse, rugby, and hockey obviously, with football right behind. Competitive cheerleading and soccer also cause too many boo-boos. Marathoners routinely die of heat stroke, so no running either. And stairs are a BIG tripping hazard. The world would be a much better place if we were all confined to ranch houses, restricted from any athletic activity, and forced to only eat gluten-free vegan diets.
Or we could all wear those stylish bike helmets 24/7!

Heading carries a clear risk.

a friend of mine's son had been playing D 3 soccer and had to quit because he suffered a couple of concussions in the beginning of the season

the team's doctor told him that he had to quit; not sure if it was forever and ever or just the season

he was starting goalie as a freshman so he was a good player

Soccer may be the most dangerous sport considering the amount of people who drop dead playing it. There have already been two deaths in 2013.

But more people also play it compared to any other sport in the world so you have to take that into consideration. A lot of it comes down to how the athletes are taken care of here compared to elsewhere in the world and that is why none on that list are American. Fabrice Muamba, who plays for Bolton and collapsed a few years ago with a heart problem said he never had his heart checked and players at other clubs have said similar things. Since that day, many have gotten checked out on their own. Here in the states they do all sorts of scans and tests all over the bodies of professional athletes to check for that type of stuff. The majority of deaths on that list are heart related and could have been diagnosed. On a side note however, The first guy on the list William Cropper ruptured a bowel, that sounds like an interesting story.

Exactly! We should all be raised like Kobe beef. I'm sure carnivorous Aliens are behind this. The Twilight Zone told me so in the early 1960's with an episode called "How to Serve Man."

The truth is much worse actually. The dweebs that want to rule us in the future fear agile, hostile, mobile, and aggressive males. Eliminate all forms of competition that reward such characteristics and you guarantee the elimination of anyone that stands in the way of the corporate technocrats who want to take over the world.

Of course the real issue here is the freedom to choose how you will live your life. I doubt they will succeed in eliminating football or soccer, but they may succeed in tampering with the game to the point that nobody finds it interesting to play or watch. The proposals for no kickoff or punt returns and the number of required bounces on onside kicks, no helmet contact, over protection of the the quarterback, and halo rules on punts have all affected the game. Other than better protective equipment they should just leave it alone.
Soccer is a very dangerous and primitive sport. it should be banned from North America and should never be televised here either.

I find it to be a good cure for insomnia.

It's the only way that Interpol can keep up with the whereabouts of known hooligans, and I'm not talking about the teams, just the fans.

Incorrect. Soccer is going to become bigger and bigger whether people like it or not because so many kids have played it in the last decade. Already starting next year all of the EPL games iwll be broadcast in the US, and even all of Mexico's National Team games and some league games are shown now. The US national team games have been getting big ratings. Soccer is growing in popularity because it's such an easy sport to get your kids involved in.
Recent immigrants are also much more familiar with soccer than they are most American sports...

Probably because they have to get expensive cable packages to watch most of them. 03-pissed
I know the Turks around here get Turkish TV via satellite. I go down to the Turkish Cultural Center to watch Fenerbahçe play occasionally with some of my friends on their big screen in HD...
We should ban beans, they produce methane gas and the resulting explosion could kill you. And image all the fart lighting teenagers that could get seriously burned, lighting those bean farts,

Sidewalks should be banned because a fall on them could break your neck.

Microwaves should be banned as well because they can easily be made into a bomb with a bowl of gasoline with some aluminum foil in it!

And the list could go on for weeks on all the things that need to be banned that can possible hurt you! 07-coffee3
