They are saying no football coach announcement today.. but.. they say it's coming in just a few days..
I was just thinking.. we will get a football stadium plan soon.. and this time it won't be a sham like it was just a few years back.. it will be real this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a great time to be a Buc fan................................................
Is this thing streaming anywhere?

Well there it is.
The only thing new we learned today is that Dick Sander is now the permanent AD.
The one interesting thing that was noted at the press conference is that Dave Mullins met with the SoCon almost 2 years ago in a restaurant off I26 to start asking the questions of what ETSU needs to do to get back to the SoCon.
My guess on how that went.

1. Add football.

The end.
Brian Noland sounds as if he has been following the athletic developments at ETSU these past ten years.

Obviously the SoCon will not be what it was when ETSU comes on board in 2014. In fact, the SoCon has never been what it was going back to 1921. The absence of App State will be the most notable difference for ETSU this time around. When App State came on board and East Carolina left, they probably had similar feelings. When West Virginia left, East Carolina probably had such feelings. When Marshall left ................ etc. But i say again, ETSU is fortunate to be back in the SoCon, even the changed SoCon. For football restart, for basketball tourney, for round robin scheduling, for geography-travel expenses, for tradition, for digging out of the Stanton-Mullins hole, and for athletic budget realities, the SoCon makes sense.

With the power five conference schools wanting to form their own NCAA division, that brings up what will happen to the remaining DI FBS conferences along with the DI FCS conferences. In ten more years, all this movement that's going on now might not work out the way many folks anticipated.
Hopefully ETSU won't be here long enough to matter.

Or, going forward, perhaps the SoCon will take a step up, maybe as a survival strategy, as a result of the coming NCAA reorganization and some folks will come back home.
Exactly how would the soon step-up. Quite frankly the soon athletically on par with the big south and the a-sun. Who exactly would you add that will bring any value.
