I do not usually complain about much, but I could not let this one go. I went thru a drive thru of one of the stores in Cordova on Trinity and placed an order for 1 fish sandwich, 1 fries and a shake. I was told the fish was going to take 5 minutes. No problem, I'll wait. I was asked to pull forward into a parking spot and my order will be right out. again, no problem. 25 minutes later still no fish. I walked over to the window to see what was taking so long (maybe they went fishing). My order was nowhere to be found. I was given a refund and asked to wait 5 more minutes while they cooked another fish sandwich for me. At that point I am mad, but I wait. 15 minutes later still no order. I walk back over to the window and finally get my fish and fries and wait another 5 minutes for the shake. 45 minutes for an order at a fast food place? You have got to be f****ing kidding me....better be some good freaking fish ( wasn't even for me but for BF). I left feedback on their website and will call corporate office on monday.....totally unacceptable.
Send them a scathing tweet - it always gets their attention!

They have gone downhill in the last few years - it's a shame.
I quit visiting the one down the street from me several years ago when the original owners sold out to a corporation and the food got so bad a rat wouldn't eat it. It really is a shame because when they opened, I thought their hamburger was one of the very best.
I would have gone inside and asked to speak to the manager on duty to find out exactly what the problem was. However...going to a burger joint for a fish sandwich....they probably had to read the manual to figure out how to cook one...that is after they found someone who could read the manual....

No ****, I could have gone to a steak house and it would have been quicker. The manager was there and she was not happy. I think they were scared to death of me by the time I walked over the second time, they would only crack the window about 2 inches to talk to me.
As someone who has worked in the food industry for over 15 years, that was totally unacceptable. I would not only given money back, I would have at least given a gift card for their next visit. Thank goodness that almost all if the Backyard Burgers around us have closed around us. Give me In-n-out Burgers any day of the week. They were the best.
Out of town last weekend on a bus with 20 others from Hope Church and we stopped several times coming and going at fast food places. It's been 10 years now that I gave all that crap up and haven't regretted it a single second. 10 years not going into a McDonalds, felt weird walking in to the place..... All the food there was nasty. Say no to fast food, period.
Reminds me of another Memphis fast food classic...

WE CLOSED. OUT OF MEET.
I was at the same store last week. I was not impressed with the service and that was the first time in a couple years that I had visited one. Off the list.
BYB used to be great... it is now terrible, I would drive by BYB even if it were free...03-shhhh
Thats what's happens when you sell your company out...
Until In & Out Burger makes it this far east (Dallas is the closest) Memphis is screwed when it comes to great hamburgers with outstanding quick service. If you go to the drive thru and are the only one in line, you place your order, go to the first window to pay, and by the time you get to the pick up window your order is waiting for you, even if you have a van full of people.
I have long since given up on BYB after many such experiences. They just don't care.

Same here. I was out shopping and Doug asked me to pick him up some lunch....that's what he wanted. If he wants it again, he'll have to go get it....I am done with them.
Thank you! Me and my co-workers have been saying Back Yard is the pitts for years. It went straight to hell as soon as they were sold and moved to Nashville.
