There have been 441 shootings and 100 homicides in the city of Chicago so far this year, according to a blog that tracks crime in Chicago.
That works out to 3.8 shootings per day or approximately one shooting every 6.3 hours.
The "Crime in Chicago" blog updates daily and tracks crime news within the city. It keeps a running tally of all homicides and shootings.
In 2012, the blog shows that 2,670 individuals were shot in Chicago. That was up 20% from 2,217 in 2011.
Likewise, the number of homicides in 2012 was 535, up 21% from 441 in 2011.
Earlier this year, Rahm Emanuel tried to legalize the murder of political enemies and the city council failed to pass it by one vote with that lone member being in the hospital recovering from bullet wounds. Obama blamed a partisan city council for the bill's failure and vowed to help his old friend any way he could, specifically, he has asked the DoJ and IRS to see what assistance they could provide. Obama could not be reached for comment since the golf course he was on was off limits to the public.

I have done those things, but still think Chicago is vastly overrated. Did I have to dodge bullets? No. Did I see some really shady stuff? Yes.
