Nothing really pops out among those games.
I guess we went for quantity not quality. Not very interesting.
Not mind blowing my any stretch of the imagination. But I wouldn't say there aren't challenges in that schedule. I would also imagine our RPI will be hideous by the end of the year.
I don't expect them to go 12-0 but there are no can't miss games. It will be up to them winning and winning big to bring in big crowds with that schedule.

There may not be "can't miss" games, but the last time we played Temple, Bucknell, SC Upstate, Charleston, and Princeton, they all beat us pretty easily.
Bucknell graduates Mike Muscala to the NBA, so I hope we avenge that loss.

While true, we graduated Holt and Evans to Europe (or Ft. Wayne or wherever) and they kicked the crap out of us, so still probably a tough game.

I will be able to attend the CSU game. Always love beating those guys. Will be nice to see KSU play @ home, right before the non-conference schedule starts.
All those years of pointing the finger at other MAC teams for having weak non-conference/ RPI-killing schedules. Well, that's us now. I'm disappointed. I'm real disappointed. I know I'm going to get dragged through the mud about saying this, but this is the lowest our standards have been set in a dozen years. Weak. Pathetic. You all can criticize me by saying this schedule is harder than it looks, but its not. Let's face it.

Alpha, I will agree with you and it needs to be said. I have a feeling that the schedule has been tailored to the talent level we are now recruiting. Not too many years ago, we were leading the MAC due to superior recruiting. It appears that we are now content to accept "average MAC level talent". It is pretty obvious that we are hoping for extraordinary development of players after arriving on campus. This may happen but a of luck will be needed. We need our players to become another Singletary, or Anthony Simpson.
The schedule sucks but it has nothing to do with the "perceived" lack of talent. I promise you that. I don't know if it was hard to get games we wanted, or opponents to come to Kent, etc. etc. but also remember we have a coach who gets an extension when he hits 20 wins.
I'm curious. Who would you replace on the schedule with another team we would have a 50-50 shot of beating? Given that we play a couple of very bottom teams EVERY season, incl. a non-D-I or two.

How about these teams? Would they be better? Hofstra, UC Irvine, Chattanooga, Cal St. Northridge, Centenary. Those were teams we played 10-11 years ago when we were at our best. How are they better? There are a good percentage of teams on next's year's schedule that are better than us. We should have a tougher schedule?
So winning 20 out of 29 games (I am assuming MAC tournament and Minor post season tournament games don't count) gets you an extension??

Scheduling California schools isn't real easy or cheap. Usually when mid majors play mid majors on the other side of the country it's part of an early season tournament.

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner!!! This schedule was created to get an extension. Whenever in doubt follow the $$$. Bottom line we are losing 2 best players and while not a hot seat i would think the seat is warming.
Maybe we've finally learned that the only thing that matters in the MAC is the tourney in March. What did all of those years of tougher schedules get us?
Who do you want to see Kent State play? Kansas? UNC? Florida? What good would that do the program let alone the players on that years team?

Sure, it would be nice to see Xavier and Nebraska again instead of Kenesaw State and Saint Peters but there is more to scheduling then we know.

From what I have seen the past two season in particular a schedule that includes Bucknell, Temple, C of C, Princeton, Seton Hall and Cleveland State seems about right.
i just wish we played one B1G school every year. It's nice to have that extra TV exposure, though I don't know if there is any real gain financially.
