Gave up 6 runs in 2 innings. 10-2 loss to USA. Probably would have been better off staying home and saving the money. Maybe we can win one game down there (I assume it is double elimination).

Only three of the runs were earned, but he gave up enough in the first two innings to have lost the game since we didn't score but two. He hasn't had a good senior year at all, and how he even made second team all-conference is a blank to me. Yes, double elimination. In basketball lingo you say "let the air out of the balls." In baseball, just "sack'em up." And then decide whether you want to have a real competitive baseball program, or continue our "intramural program." Sorta like our men's basketball program. Nothing real serious, just have a team so our students can say we have college athletics.

I've gotten the impression folks in the administration are quite happy with Coach Norwood. Honestly, I doubt we could do any better. Not putting us down- I believe he is a good coach. But UALR does not exactly have a history of baseball excellence.

I'm sure they are, they're obviously happy with Shields too, and we haven't had much of history in basketball excellence in the past twenty years. If we keep going like we're going, we'll never have a history of either baseball or basketball excellence. I assume that both these coaches work cheap, and evidently that is what's important at UALR.

I don't have any reason to believe that he doesn't know his baseball, but coaching success in college is related to recruiting, and after five years, it looks to me like we're not getting the players who can compete in the Sun Belt. Recruiting is related to winning, and winning is related to butts in the seats.
I think they have a team because you have to field so many teams to stay in D1. I don't know if you had to have a baseball team or not. Maybe you could substitute another sport for it. Say a big fan favorite like Water Polo.

We don't have to have baseball. UNT didn't. I was just talking to
Richard Turner about getting water polo back. Unfortunately it ain't going to happen. It was great when he took us to the NCAA finals in California and at University of Indiana. Those were really the good old days. We didn't have a regulation pool back then. Now we do but don't have a team. Makes a lot of sense.
