Not sure we're in the position of criticizing strength of schedule.

They have the money to bring in bigger teams for 1-1s without a problem...we dont.
They are taking the Jiff Compher route and scheduling bad teams to get more wins. 05-stirthepot

UI has the ability to schedule anyone, they choose no to. Our scheduling can be much more involved. This is embarassing for UI plus I believe they will not play us. I think the statre has to do what Ohio did to OSU, require them to keep some of the guarantee money in state and require them to play Ohio schoo;s.

Then they'll play EIU, WIU, ISU, SIU, but not NIU.

Well they do once every 9-10 seasons.

If the B1G stops playing FCS, we're their only in-state choice.

and just like that Wisconsin today announced WIU in 2014.

They also are backing out of their 1-1 series with Wash St.
I guess it would be too much to ask for us to pick that series up instead of scheduling FCS teams in 14/15.

I beg to differ, I think they may have difficulty in winning any of these games.

Exactly. Let me clarify that I hate U of I. But, I find it funny that no person on here will laugh at the remainder of their schedule:

at Nebraska
Purdue
at Wisconsin
Minnesota
at Ohio State
Iowa
Penn State
at Northwestern

I would switch places with their 2014 schedule in a heart beat. Cupcakes before the beef is how it's supposed to be. If you put the beef before the cupcakes like us, you get crappy attendance and season ticket numbers.

Oh, and FYI: Only Dogfan can get away with putting the beef between the cupcakes! 04-cheers

Have you seen Big 10 football lately? Equally laughable.

MD, you never cease to amaze me. I'm assuming that you consider Iowa a crappy Big 10 team, right? Answer this question for me: Did we beat Iowa last year? And since the only answer is no, let me elaborate. In no way shape or form is the MAC even close to the level of the Big 10. I would say there are 2, maybe 3 MAC teams that could compete on a week to week basis. That's it. I'm not talking playing one game vs. a Big 10 team every year. That's not equivalent to playing an entire season of Big 10 football. I can't believe you would even consider a MAC schedule equal to a Big 10 schedule. Our best teams might get to the middle of the pack playing a Big 10 schedule.

I think many on the NIU side regret the offensive approach and putting the reigns on Lynch for that game, NIU is obviously better than Iowa last year. Your Big 10 champ was UW, a team that almost got beat by UNI, enough said.

Its the chicken and the egg.

If we played a B1G schedule we would get "better" recruits because they would get more chances vs the bigger opponents.

If UofI or Iowa played a MAC schedule they would not get the "better" recruits because they "only" play in the MAC.

With what they have in resources compared to a MAC school it shouldn't even be close...but in reality our top half match up well with their bottom half. Unfortunately the winnable games are typically played at their place on top of so few times that our the players are in awe of the big time stage.

I believe that if we scheduled 4 OOC games vs AQ teams (1 being IN DeKalb) and have them peppered in over the first 8 weeks we would come away with more Ws. Let our warm up games be vs the MAC teams...its not like ESPN is going to let us play Toledo or any other team that is supposed to be great in the first 4 weeks when we are not on TV.
