Kansas City?

J/k.
Interesting. Tennessee Red's in Portland must have really improved, because it got horrific reviews on one site.

Funny that the KC restaurant serves NC bbq.

I like Corky's and Neeley's but wonder why they chose those two. I'm not trying to start another 50-page bbq discussion!
The #3 on that list, Virgil's in NYC is only a block or two off Times Square. On our last Christmas vacation trip to NYC, it was within sight our hotel. Walking back to our hotel one night tired from walking and cold, we passed Virgil's, looked at each other, shrugged our shoulders, and walked it.

It wasn't "top 10 good" and wouldn't make the any "top" list in Memphis, but it was surprisingly better than we expected in NYC. There must have been pictures of 7 or 8 Memphis BBQ places on the walls The Public Eye, Bryant's and Tops on Summer are the 3 I remember.

Who goes to NYC and eats BBQ?......the oldtiger family. Seeing that place was completely unexpected.
the comments are funny
somebody from st louis complaining Pappy's didnt make the list
Pappy's is memphis bbq
sheesh.

fwiw, they'll kiss your ASS there if they find out you're from memphis
Corky's and Interstate?

I don't trust their palate.
Surprised to see Corky's top the list. I like Central and even Top's, better. Did Gridley's close down? Sorry...it's a 'been away for a long time' question.

I'm rarely in Bartlett so I could be months or longer behind the curve, but I thought there was still one location open at Hwy 70/Stage. Gridley's fate is a great lesson in franchising if I understand correctly what happened.

Amen.

If you're going to list top ten BBQ joints in the country and list two that aren't even arguably the best in Memphis, you loose all credibility.
They probably didn't leave the airport.

Or their couch.

That list reads like a who's who of places featured on the Food Network.
Corky's and Neely's don't make my top 5 list in the Memphis area alone.
What about Naaaashville?
This thread is making me crazy for Memphis BBQ want to...
We have one brand we buy here in Quito which, with wife's cooking and proper sauce, at least holds us over until we get back in to Memphis and can get the real thing. It's called 'Juris', and actually a quite nice piece of rib, although we're admittedly bushy.

I've been there several times. I really like the place. Like you said, not Memphis, but a really good place to eat. Good bar, too. It's funny that the menu says "Memphis Style Ribs". They are pretty good if you're not expecting Memphis ribs. No need to lie to people, lol.

Pretty sure it's still there. The new owner told me the old man didnt really want to sell, but the daughter who was running it said "hell, yes!". She was tired of the business.

How does one tighten their credibility?

I like Interstate...and I will say that when Corky's is on, they're ON. The problem is, they're unpredictable. However, neither are in my top 3 in Memphis (Cozy Corner, Central, and G'town Commissary).

The write ups read like generic bios.

That place is huge by BBQ shop standards.

1st 2 story BBQ joint I'd ever been in. Not counting basements.
Arthur Bryant's in KC deserves on the list.
