Is there any plans to update the UAB tags? I know some of the other schools have updated the designs.

I've had mine since I started driving 10 years ago and I still think it's the best looking license plate of any of the state colleges. I say keep it the same.
They'll have to come up with something pretty whoopity scoopity to be better than the current one.
I still have one of the original design hanging on my wall.

Would love to get a Maryland tag for UAB. They have one for that other school.

That's what mine looks like!
yeah mine too. Its faded and looks bad. The county wouldnt replace it with a new one.
Ive got Blazer tags on 3 of our vehicles.
When you renew your tag, get a regular ol' Alabama license plate. Then go back in a week and ask to get a UAB tag. You'll have to pay the $50 but you'll get a shiny new Blazer License Plate!

Might have to try that, they wouldn't replace mine either. Some redneck troy fan tried to rip mine off of my car during the sack of troy (apparently using a screwdriver was too complicated for him) and it's been warped ever since. I'd hate to risk the loss of my 4UAB tag though.
I remember that. It looked like someone tried to rip it off with their bare hands.

The one you got less than a week after I was told it was not available. My tag was damaged in a wreck and I was told to bring it down and I could get a replacement for a few bucks

There was a time when scientific community said the ability to make and use tools is what separated man from the lower species. Then they discovered several ape species makin and using tools It appears that Troy fans have not evolved to that level
I though I saw a new format on a car this weekend going home from the game or at least another type that didn't have the dragon logo

its not on the state website if its changed. They still show the big dragon head one.
I'll see if it comes around again & it was Fri night going home from work when I saw it. It was a personalized tag & that as well as the format is what made it stand out as I'd only seen the dragon head logo tags & thought it might be new.

They are supposed to hold your tag for 5 years whether you use it or not. At one point in college, I had sold my first car and was driving a car of my parent's while looking for a new car. When I finally got a car, I went to the courthouse and was trying to decide what was taken and they said you know your previous one is held. So, there's that.

When I asked about a UAB "vanity" tag, the county clerk said it was $50 each year, not just $50 once. Was this clerk correct?
