He never plays Wroten.
He never plays Daye.
He rarely plays Davis.

So you think maybe he just doesn't like the new guys.

Then why is it that the first player off the bench now is Dooling, a new guy. During the season the Grizz were successful with bringing in Bayless to spell Conley. Now it's Dooling that's coming off the bench first. Bayless minutes have declined as is his point production. Dooling gets burned on defense a lot more than either Conley or Bayless.

I just don't get it.
Right now, Wroten is a bad defender and doesn't always make good decisions. Dooling's playing ok as a backup and has been hitting some shots.
Daye is terrible defensively.
Davis is unfortunately on a short leash...I wish Hollins would be more patient with him. Fortunately, DA has come around and is playing well.

So, I don't really have a gripe with his rotation. He played 10 guys yesterday - Pondexter, Bayless, Dooling, Davis and DA from the bench - which is plenty. Starters will play a ton of mins; we just need 1-2 guys from the bench to go off any game. Bayless went off the 1st game, Pondexter went off last night, and Dooling has been surprisingly stable.
think Hollins just hates rookies. Especially rookie PG's.
Hollins knows he's gotta win this series to get another contract. He finally figured out that Allen needs to play major minutes and either Gasol or Zbo MUST be on the court at all times.
To me Dooling allows the Grizzlies to play a more aggressive defense on the outside and if he picks up a cheap foul or three, it's on him and not Conley. I think there is high value in that approach.

Dooling is playing a little better. It's like when Prince first came here. He wasn't in sync with his teammates. Dooley seems to be syncing a little bit better.
The problem with Bayless is that he is an awful defender.
Yep ... I actually love it when Dooling gets in the game. Tough nose defender.

And he leaves his feet without making a decision of what to do beforehand
side note: we won last night...
Nother side note. Hollins is a helluvagood coach. The best the Grizz have ever had & he can very well be our Greg Pop if we don't run him off.

Hubie was def a better coach...
I love Hollins's coaching. Hope he somehow beats the odds and gets a new contract.
I like the rotation

It would be a major disappointment is management is foolish enough to let him walk away.

For one season yes. But it's arguable that he had more talent & never won a playoff game. He was a victim of some horrible draft moves by West. I feel Hollins is the best because of results & his endurance. He's got 10 good years left in him.
I think the roster now is much more talented then what Hubie had to work with. I am not knocking Hollins, but more just stating what I think. If you look at just the Gasol brothers alone, Marc is a significantly better player.

Hubie was awesome, but he was also 0-8 in the playoffs. Hollins ... dunno his playoff record, but hell ... we all know he can win in the playoffs. I'll stick with Hollins as the all-time greatest coach in GRIZZ history. Coach Brown is second.

Marc has stated that Hollins has played a HUGE part in developing Gasol's defensive game ... and I love that Gasol has come out in the 2nd half of the last 2 games and Gasol just tore it up. You have to believe that Coach Hollins tore him up at halftime ... great response by Gasol.
