We need to to get in 1st round of draft and get up and grab Archie Goodwin and let him become our young 2 guard, then play more of Tony Wroten as a combo guard, and then Upgrade the 3 spot with someone in Fa, and maybe take Adonis Thomas is the second round....The World Is Ours Memphis....
Heck no...no Adonis!
I'd take DJ over Adonis and I never thought I would say that
Stick with being a miami heat fan.

I wish we had DJ on that final shot last night.
All Memphis Tmoney....We need to draft Archie Goodwin, and get more athletism at the 2 guard and he is gonna be a damn good player in the league to boot, Him along with Tony Wroten would be a deadly backcourt to go with our Frontcourt....The World Is Ours Memphis....
Actually, Grizz need to tank it and draft Wiggins in 2014. But that's not going to happen. So they will continue to slowly get worse. Eventually people will realize this formula won't work. Then the team will bottom out in about five years. Hopefully by then there's another Durant type in the draft.

No guarantee if you tank that you get the #1 pick.

Sure, I get that. But you have to play the odds. I think most bball fans would agree that OKC is the team to beat in the West. They followed the only formula that works for small market teams to have a shot at winning championships. That formula requires some luck. You have to stink, get a top draft pick and hope that top draft pick becomes a superstar. Then you have to draft well to put the right guys around him.

If you look at other small markets that have had success, like San Antonio, you'll see it was done through the draft. They drafted Timmy Duncan, Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker. Small markets have no chance at signing or trading for superstar players. Only the Miami's, Chicago's, New York's, Boston's and LA's of the world can do that.

SA got Manu and Parker in the 2nd round. Let's hope this new ownership and management do their due research and find some gems in the 2nd round this yr.
The Spurs are arguably the most successful, best run franchise regardless of sport in recent history.

The first pick that the thunder made as a franchise is no longer with them in Harden. Durant and Westbrook were both drafted by the Sonics.

That's of no consequence. Same ownership, the team just moved cities. Point is: they drafted Durant and Westrbook. No way they could have built up a team in OKC through trades and FA signings. It had to start with drafting two great players.
As a small market, getting a guy like Z-bo is about as good as you're going to do via trades and FA signings. And even that was a shot in the dark with his checkered past. It's not like other big market teams were clamoring for him. Z-bo is at best a fringe all-star, and he's definitely not a superstar. He's not a guy that will lead a team to a championship. The Grizz reached their potential with this team two years ago. And they fooled everyone into thinking that was only the beginning, that they could go further. In reality, that was as far as they were ever going to go with that formula.

So what do you do now? You can try to keep the formula going through some patchwork. But it's not going to get better. If you ever want to see the Grizz hoist a championship banner to the rafters, they are going to have to hit rock bottom (or close to it) again. And then they'll have to draft well (and hope for some luck). That could change everything. The Grizz can be OKC one day. Or San Antonio.

I disagree that they will have to hit rock bottom. They have a good young core with Gasol and Conley (as good as they can hope for). They just have to figure out how to build around them. I like the defense and the tough mentality. They just need a more potent offense. I think the front office will have to work with Hollins, for the simple fact Hollins can instill the toughness for D. If, somehow, they could procure Demarcus Cousins in a trade for Z-bo (I hate to say it, but this is as far they are going to go with Z-bo, I hope I am wrong), I think you have what Z-bo brings, just way younger. And with Hollins as the coach, you can deal with Cousins' baggage. You can then try to find scorers and shooters, but Gasol and Cousins on the low block is pretty much lethal, and that squad, with Conley TA, and JB (and perhaps an athletic wing like Tyreke), I'd say they could compete with the Heat. I know it is a long shot, but oh to dream.
