Good thing we've already got ours.
For a second there I thought we had theirs.
They say national search but last year they hired away one of the top women's high school coach's in the state. I bet they hire him.
UAT hasn't filled any coaching position with a proper search and hiring in my lifetime. (with the possible exception of Anthony Grant)
This will be Bill Battle's first hire, so I am sure he feels the need for it to be a good one.

One problem at Bama is the intrusion of the "money people" on the selection process if they have a favorite that is different from his. Hudson wasn't "fired", but "promoted out" into what is likely a "made up job" financed with the contributions from these influential boosters. Thanks to these "money people", the Athletic Dept. is able to operate as though the university academic side is only an adjunct of the "REAL U of AL" - the Crimson Tide.

The median spending in 2010 per academic student in the SEC was $13,390 (7th place among D1 conferences) but led the list for median annual spending per athlete at $163,931. That's the difference millionaire support for a program (and their resulting influence) means to such schools. The Big 12 was #2 at over $30,000 per athlete less. I would doubt UA was not well above the median for their conference.
