David Glenn, the interviewer with ECU Head Football Coach Ruffin McNeill!

Questions the ECU coach about what he thinks of his year’s home football schedule. David Glenn mentions how he loves this year’s home schedule against VA Tech, So. Miss, Tulsa, UAB..... No mention of ODU at all.

It appears both of them must feel Old Dominion, must not even merit the attention of ECU.
ODU is not even a fly on the windshield of ECU's schedule. Truly, not even a small bump in the road of ECU's path to play all the other noteworthy schools at home!

Interview........... 2013 Home schedule discussion..... just past mid-way of the Interview!

I hope ODU becomes a road bumb for them!

Eh, I mean do any FBS schools talk up their FCS games?
I think ODU will be plenty ready for this game. No need for any chalkboard material.

Yeah. We are after all still FCS this season.
David Glenn and Ruffin McNeill really seem to be fond of each other. Good grief!

Nope. Just like we didn't talk up our CIAA games. Nothing to see here.
I think it's at least interesting.

If we shoot down the occasional smack post about our opponents we won't have very much to talk about around here, especially with the summer approaching.

ECU is a 22 point favorite. They see ODU much like we view Norfolk State. Its a warm up game for them. Their coaches are not losing sleep over playing us. That is why it's a statement game for ODU.
I thought ODU would get at least a mention, because......

1) ODU
is only 2.5 hours from them.

2) ODU is their 1st home game for the 2013 Football season
(Last year they will be in C-USA)

3). Just smart PR for an inaugural home, for both opponents.

Well, I guess ODU receives no respect on the Football meter for ECU.
Nice to see what they think, or don't think of our relevance!

Just my 2 cent on the mater!

The team may not need it for motivation, but it is just another part of the puzzle. I feel confident the team will have the opportunity to know that they were not relevant to ECU's head coach.

The one difference is...... I know regardless of how the fans may perceive this game the team and Bobby wilder will, and do have a great deal of respect for every opponent on our schedule.

He always knows how to address the community, fans and opponents with the respect they have earned and deserve!

Proud of the way our coach always shows respect, and grace with his discussions about our rivals, we will play!

I'm sure the ECU coach would have said nice things about ODU had the radio guy brought us up. The coach never mentioned any team in particular. It was the interviewer that listed the teams that were coming into town.
Lets hope Taylor sets them straight on which home games really matter to them !
You WANT them to be overlooking us. I hope they are well-rested, overconfident, and looking forward to the "meat" on their schedule.

While I do not predict we will win, if we can score early and often, all of a sudden that great home-field opening day advantage turns into a a pressure cooker as they realize they are in for a battle.

Really excited to see how we perform against this huge step-up in competition.

Agree on all but the bolded portion. I hope they party like there is no tomorrow for the entire week before the game. I want them gassed in the fourth quarter asking themselves "Wha.. wa... what happened? I thought they were FCS? I thought they had no defense. I thought they were smaller. I thought they were slower. I thought this would be easy."

LOL.............I am with both of you!

Have a friend who is a season ticket holder and is planning to get us two tickets for the game.

I must say for a game the coach, and Radio voice had nothing to say about, sure seems to be getting a lot of attention from long time ECU supporters. My friend may be over playing his concern for the outcome of this game, just to me. I know I have done something very similar, by telling him I hope we can just score and keep the point spread under 40, as they just roll over us.

But in my mind and my heart is saying! Yes we can........Yes we can ......we have a chance!

I don't think you guys need to take this one personally. I say this as a fan of a program that is constantly looked down upon. Ruffin McNeill is probably one of the most respectful coaches in the game and he doesn't wear purple-shaded glasses either (even though he's an alum and former player for ECU). I have seen my team lose plenty of games in which we should have won, so I'm going to leave the matchup alone for now (also due to the fact that I don't know too much about this team right now and haven't seen enough spring film to make conclusions).

I will say this, do not expect Ruffin McNeill and Co. to overlook this game. They are the last staff in FBS that would have their team overlooking matchups.
I think this is much to do over nothing. If you know Coach Ruff, you know he has respect for all people and teams, as genuine as they come. The oversight came from the interviewer who mainly covers ACC teams.
I can tell you as an ECU backer we are concerned about the game...and by the way, I like the ODU fans reaction here...you have spunk and passion. The Pirates look forward to the game...bring a bunch down with you...we stir it up pretty good at our games.
I am very excited for this game because it should tell us where we stand in comparison to the rest of CUSA. My guess is we'll find out we are exactly where most of us think. Competitive, but not yet ready to win on a consistent basis, at least not against upper tier CUSA teams. I think give us one more FBS recruiting season and by 2014 we'll be ready to start winning. I do think an upset somewhere along the line this season and for sure next is in the cards, but I think we'll probably see our defense, while improved, still has a few miles to go, same with our O line. We won't have the size and depth of size this year to win many FBS games, but Idaho is a real possibility.[/i]
Ruff and Co. will not overlook the Monarchs and certainly do not look down their noses at the Monarchs. "Want some, get some" is Ruff's motto and that applies to any and all teams we face. Also, it should be noted that we have had very few blowouts in the Ruff era - the Pirates are well accustomed to games coming down to the wire. Should be a great game and look forward to seeing Monarch nation head into Rowdy Dowdy. 04-cheers
