UAB Softball ‏@uabsoftball
USA Softball Top-25 just came out, Blazers with 17 votes, the most of the 'Others Receiving Votes' category. #greatjob
How many cusps are there?

Three for each valve...except for the mitral, which only has two.
Meanwhile, Coach Shoop has the 177th-ranked baseball team chugging along at a stellar 16-20-0.
So, the softball team is ranked 26th? 05-stirthepot

Maybe we just need a new ball park.
FACILITIES!
I wonder if there are any secondary polls for softball. I know there are several for baseball (5 - 10 I think).
Maybe a short lived cusp. UAB trails Troy 2-0 right now in the 4th.
& it is over. UAB loses 2-1.

There are two polls:

The one referenced above is the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.

The other is the USAToday/NFCA Coaches poll. In that one UAB is also in the others receiving votes category with 7 votes, which is a tie for the 31st most points in that poll.

There is a third ranking from the NCAA (RPI). In that UAB is currently ranked 30th.

Last year's championship team was maybe one game over .500.

EDIT: 32-30 on the year.
I think facilities WILL help baseball recruiting. It's difficult to recruit to Young Field when nearly everyone except JSU has better facilities.
I didn't realize there was anything wrong with our field.

At JSU, I felt like I was at a little league game. The only scoreboard was so small and so far away, it was impossible to read. The catch screen in front of the seating area behind home plate was a major factor. And my vision is 20/20 with my glasses on.

Once regions is our home field UAB will have the best in the conference e
JSU is the only DI school in the state with worse facilities. If we are pumping our chest we have better baseball facilities than JSU we have serious problems. BTW JSU is planning a brand new baseball facility FWIW anong with a softball complex.

UAB has the worst baseball facility in C-USA. I know Marshall does not play on campus and has to bus but it is still leaps and bounds better than Young Field. It is what it is. Even our own coach in conversations with him while we were in Houston's nice facility expressed a desire to IMPROVE FACILITIES to help with recruiting and told me back then we would be playing in the new baron's stadium when it was built. The actual field (grass) looks good and we have a nice batting facility. Other than that we have a glorified high school stadium we are using trying to compete in a darn good baseball league.

I think only UTSA will have a smaller venue than Young Field when they come on board but I doubt that will last long the way they are growing.

The plan is to play every game we can at Regions Park. The desire is to play them all there and Young Field will be our practice field.
So, one we have an on campus stadium, we will be better in football, BUT, once we have an off campus stadium, we will be better in baseball.

Just making sure I have this straight.

The common denominator is a non-crappy stadium near/on campus.
Off campus on land traded to the city and one of the perks is to be able to use the stadium for practically nothing. Campus is so close I can spit standing at regions park and hit it with the wind blowing against me.

Playing in one of the finest facilities in the nation practically on campus vs playing in a glorified high school stadium that we could not bulldoze if we wanted to is a no brainer. Glad our AD is making these decisions and not some of our fans.
