Coye Simmons – 2014 PF; Winston-Salem Prep

Opportunities to play and measure yourself against the other 80 best players in your respective state don’t come around very often, and Coye Simmons was one of the guys who really made the most of it. He came into the event relatively unknown, but his steady performance throughout the day laid a good foundation for himself moving forward. At 6’8, Simmons owns a strong upper and lower body and has energy to match it. He showed a nose for the ball and a willingness to crash the boards, making him a consistent rebounder on both ends. A solid athlete, Simmons manufactured points off put backs and garbage buckets, and even showed that there is a hint of a midrange game to his offensive repertoire, which bodes very well for his future. He gets good rotation on his shot, and he has enough confidence to take and make shots from twelve feet and in without much space. Simmons works hard for position on both ends of the floor and is turning into a quality low to mid-level recruit as a four man.
We made an offer today in Pittsburgh.
R8R, any amplifying details? Thanks!

Tarin Smith, PG 2014-St Anthony's

Here's some video of Smith at St Anthony's #10 in white. http://odubleedblue.com/new-2014-hoops-t...rin-smith/
Also this is 2013 related but Djitte said today that he will commit during the first week of May, which may coincidentally be when he takes an OV here.

At Cincinnati this evening, rumored to be in Memphis next weekend.
Coye Simmons had no offers before today and is rated a 2* by ESPN. He has only played organized basketball for two years. He wears sized 18 shoes and the shortest member of his family is 6'10 (!). This guy is loaded with potential.

Tarin Smith is rated by Scout as a 2*

Picking up right where Blaine left off.
Lol.
Was getting looks from us back in May 2012: http://excoboard.com/theflagship/150285/1863249
Coye is a player to watch and see how he develops.

The staff is doing a good job, the championship game of the Pitt Jamm Fest we were looking at the same players as Georgetown, Clemson and Cincinnati.

When jones beats out a bcs school for a recruit, then I might actually give a sh.t about odu basketball again, if only for a few seconds until I remember who our coach is.

As for this, it appears like more of the same that got us to 5-25 in the worst Caa in history last year.
Apparently we checked this guy out, don't know about an offer. 2014 6'7 Markell Lodge Team Loaded. Has Richard Ross type skills, maybe bigger.

Per Tweeter Old Dominion has offered Devin Robinson 6-7, SF/Wing, 2014, Christchurch (VA), he's a good one, with a bunch of offers. Adding Cincinnati this past week. Also holds offer from VCU.

Aim High.
Robinson was offered by VCU quite a while ago. Hometown kid. Been following him since last summer and he's been to campus twice.

He's definitely a good one. If ODU nails him down then Jones will be making quite a statement. He will end up being a consensus top 100 prospect by his senior year.
Jones is going after them thats for sure.
Even I can take a swing at Justin Verlander's fastball, but you ain't going to hit it if you don't take a swing. Jeff is looking at some solid recruits.
Saw on twitter we have offered Robert Johnson a scholarship.
The sad part is I can almost understand beating Clemson or Cincinnati for a recruit more than VCU. Especially for a guy inside the Richmond umbrella that happens to be a shooting guard.

Prove me wrong John Richardson.
Robert Johnson, 2014, SG, 6-3, Chesterfield, Va, has added an offer from Old Dominion, also has VCU, Duquesne, Richmond and JMU. This guys was a lights out shooting his sophomore year, has a very shot. Think VCU cooled on him.
Glad to see jones is throwing out some higher offers. Gotta take some shots, Blaine tried and failed, maybe jones will be better at it.
