Alright, I'm so tired of the realignment talk that I thought I'd bring up something that suddenly hit me late last night.

During my senior year at Liberty, I was working on a video documentary on the football team. Anyway, it hit me last night that some of the footage I shot was of Liberty playing Southwest Texas State. So, is that the same thing as Texas State?

Here is a clip of the show (yes cheesy student video) with several shots of what I think to be SW Texas State. am I right? Good long clip at 1:20 in.

Incidentally, Liberty won 35-22. http://www.liberty.edu/flames/index.cfm?...easonID=58
Yup. We were founded as Southwest Texas State Normal School in 1899 and went through several name changes as the scope of our institution changed.

In 2003, we became Texas State University-San Marcos (commonly referred to Texas State everywhere). The "-San Marcos" was added by state officials to allow other system schools to change their names (ie- Lamar to Texas State-Beaumont, Sam Houston to Texas State-Huntsville). It caused some drama with the system schools and they passed name protection bills. With these bills in place, and 10 years of "Texas State" branding, the legislature is considering dropping "-San Marcos" from the official name.

I am glad that we got rid of the Clemson Paw and the marigold (current school colors are Maroon and Old Gold).
Alright, good. My memory is still barely intact. Thanks
