Still #18 in Baseball America

Houston #19
Come on, none of these polls went with an alternate April Fools variation? Would have been worth it, IMO. Would have driven a whole lot of traffic to any of these sites.
Hope I am wrong, but Rice-UH (Silver Glove?) series trophy no better than even chance remaining with Owls based on what we have seen so far.
Whoa Owlman, you may speak the truth, but the defenders of the faith are going to come on and batter you in a second. They have faith, and that is all they need.

Hey. I have faith. But I know that streak and the conference champions streak will end some day. I worry about that every year.

A number of us have already commented on how competitive the game should be this year.

It's a welcome change from the last few series.

Should be a really good series. With our starting pitching, I like our chances going into any series. But, it should be a tight affair, probably a 2-1 series win one way or the other. I think the Owls will get it done, but I'm just a bit biased 03-wink.

Yup, it's a nice thing to have.

I still like our chances this year (especially with Shane back by then), BUT the Coogs do have a couple things going in their favor this year; (1) they're playing on their field and get to bat last, and perhaps even more important, (2) that's the weekend before Dead Week and Final Exams, meaning our guys are going to be preoccupied with academic deadlines and the pressures of exams looming over their heads.
We're currently ranked #12 in average per game attendance at 3,295...

The OG has rewarded our faith time and time again, so it isn't misplaced in the case of Rice Baseball...

I think it's more like 1500 - 1600 regulars, but hat's true in most places. For example, I'm a season ticketholder, but only make it down for 10 - 15 games per year.
While I certainly hope we retain the Silver Glove, winning the conference is more important, and if UH gets too far in front of us in the standings, even a series win over them won't close the gap. Thankfully, they lost at Memphis yesterday, so we are still only one game back in conference play.
We should not be losing a lot of conference games with the many of our conference mates having off years.

I think we get more than 1000 most games , but how many more is the question.

Two years ago, Rice sold 1700 season tickets. I think 1400 - 1600 walk-ups per game is a stretch. Looking at the crowds in the Roost and on Bikini Hill, I try to estimate how many butts are in the park compared to tickets sold. I've not come up with a good estimate yet.

We can't be counting the Minute Maid tourney as a home series can we ???
It is the same with me because I will make one or at best two out of a series since I have to drive into Houston. I buy a season ticket to be sure I stay in the shade for hot weather.

Given that you live in Chicago, that's damn good, even extraordinary !!

It wasn't all that long ago (in the grand scheme of things) that "attendance" meant attendance. Today it means sales. And the word that means attendance is, well, there is no word. Our language, and therefore our lives, are poorer. It is a small sadness, but a sadness nontheless.
