First FF since 1987 without one of these teams:

Kansas
North Carolina
Duke
Kentucky
UCLA

I think that speaks to the question of who is a blue blood and who isn't. I'm just going to admit that I'm quite jealous. I really hope that the move into the new conference can get us enough experience to enjoy more than one Final Four every 10-15 years.

I think Josh is the man to do it. Come to think of it of those teams, IIRC we have only beaten two of them (UCLA and Kentucky). Hear's hoping that we can push our way into the National conversation with regularity. 04-cheers

Go Tigers!

Very interesting. And 1987 was the year Indiana won the title. Back then they were considered a blue blood. Not as much anymore.

I too hope we don't have to wait 20+ years for another Final Four like we did between the one in '85 and 2008. And hopefully the next one won't be vacated.

Memphis has also beaten Kansas twice:
83-80 OT win during 1985-86 season and 64-58 win during 1982-83 season

With Lville still in "the conference" next year, we will be lucky to survive with less than 5 conference losses. But the good news is that playing in the conference should get us an at large bid without having to go 30-4.

If we go 30-4 there, we are a number one seed. But after what I saw this weekend, we have a lot of work to do. A lot.
I just want our team to be really tough and have more than 22 wins.

Yeah, but it's not as if Syracuse, Michigan and Louisville have been strangers to this round in the last 25 years. They all had a combined 8 before the Dance.

How is Indiana not a blueblood? They've taken some steps back since making the Final Four in 1992 but it's not as if they went though a stretch like a certain program on the Gulf Coast in the To-Be-Named Conference. They even went to a national title game during their "down" period.
Yes..Indiana is a blueblood.

The above 5 plus Indiana.

Next grouping includes Louisville, Michigan State and Arizona and the like.

Then us!!

Duke replaced Indiana the past 20 years.

Fixed
No, Duke joined Indiana and the others. 5 national titles speaks volumes as does advancing to at least one Final Four every decade except the 1960's (40's, 50's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's) and they have a good shot to go to one this decade.
I would say Memphis is a top 20 program over the years, so that would put us in a 3rd tier bucket...Bluebloods (Indiana, Duke, Kansas, UNC, UCLA, and KY), then group 2 (U of L,Mich. State, Syracuse, UConn, Arizona, Fla.), then we would be in the next group..just my opinion
