What would happen with the sunbelt in terms of scheduling and the like if one or more of these schools left, leaving the belt with a litany of move-ups. What would the moveups have to do to meet scheduling rules, etc.
If my math is right, potentially would be one year where Sun Belt would be under 8 teams, which I guess would require some exemption from NCAA. Didn't the WAC have this situation one year? Or did the house of cards just tumble at that point?

lol, I just figured you were gone already..
Part of the reason NMSU and Idaho are on the schedule is just in case ASU or ULL leave. Troy and ULM are pretty much stuck. USA has a chance, but it would require an exit from Southern Miss.

Troy's chances of ever leaving the Belt are slim at best.

That is true...and you should thank the nbe for your school's invite for a lateral move, at best. 04-cheers

Lateral move at best? Okay...

The administrators of five different Sun Belt schools have all been hoodwinked into making what can only be a lateral move and nothing more...

Nope, they haven't been hoodwinked, bamboozled, etc. They seem to have made decisions based on the cusa of days-gone-by and not completely informed...not even as much as some on a message board? It's all good, though I am interested in seeing the end-result.

Not sure why Troy would want to leave the SBC. Troy football is Troy football and like App State, and Ga Southern they have grown their brand by winning, at every level, and that will be the case in the future, regardless.

Ark State and WKU, who have also won at every level, and are now winning at the FBS level.

App State and Ga Southern will now be expected to follow the path of those schools, and become winning FBS programs.
Football is currently a lateral move. Basketball is a move up. That is what I am most excited about.

It's pretty much going to take all four of us leaving before Liberty gets a serious look.

ASU, Troy and (gasp) ULM are the three best friends that anyone could ever have.

Than you clearly haven't been paying much attention to realignment news lately..
USA is completely transitioned.

I'm laughing that you are considering ESPN as a credible news source.

You are 100% correct. Football is a lateral move, but it would reduce travel cost considerably for the Cajuns. We would have 3 programs within 3.5 hours of Lafayette.

If stAte were to move to CUSA along with Louisiana in order for CUSA to get to 16 we would have UNT, stAte, UAB, USM, Rice, and La Tech as programs that are within 8 hours of campus.
