If James Madison doesn't get the invite to take WKU's spot, who do you think gets it and why? (Serious, please)
If it is NOT JMU, my guess would be Liberty does get the call. They seem to be the most ready at this point. They may not fit in well institutionally, but the athletic program is the most ready.

That said, I think it's gonna be JMU.
Who else is there right now? I'd like Jackson State (from the SWAC) to fill out the footprint in football only, but they aren't in the discussion and probably not ready.

William and Mary, Missouri State, Delaware -- these are possibles.
I can tell you this...if we turn it down and Liberty takes it...our board will have the meltdown of all meltdowns...like hide your wives, hide your kids, hide your husbands meltdown...
JMU is next and it is up to your President.

If he says no, Liberty gets JMU's spot.

@jmusuperfan Latest I heard is the #SunBelt will add one possible two. #WKU is all but gone to the #CUSA. Awaiting for the next school

Better question, if it is JMU.. who is the second school?

How would two adds work? Unless Arkansas State is leaving for the MAC, which I guess is certainly a possibility.

This is so true.

Wonder what Mickey Matthews (JMU coach) thinks of JMU joining the Sun Belt?

I don't know, maybe one school is going to be added with no football?

If they turn it down, does your board have so much support for going to the Sun Belt that it would be that huge a melt down? Thought they seemed indifferent. If there is that much support, one of them needs to get your president onboard.
Has Benson ruled out going to 13 football members? I've heard him mention 12 several times and I agree that 12 is the ideal number, but we've seen other conferences do 13. I guess adding both the Virginia schools for football isn't completely out of the question. If Ark St has one foot out the door like WKU did, I could also see adding one of JMU or Liberty now and having one "on deck" if/when there is another defection.
I think a lot see this as one of our last options. To most, turning this down probably signifies staying in FCS (whether that's true or not who know). Adding to the meltdown would be the addition of Liberty. Them jumping before us would at least double the meltdown factor.
I can tell you w/o reservation that adding LU would actually DECREASE the chances of JMU to the SBC.

Liberty's ready and there aren't any other viable alternatives if James Madison turns down the spot.

The Citadel 04-jawdrop, Yep ! Why ?
It's in Charleston SC, as opposed to another Alabama school (no offense to Alabama the beautiful) and we need a Bulldog school too.

I'd take Jim Bob's College of Machinery over Liberty, as long as they had a football team.
Your choices go as follows

1. JMU
2. Missouri State
3. Liberty

If JMU turns it down, you try Missouri State again, if they turn it down...call Liberty. Like it or not, we know Liberty is prepared as a department to move up, and would take an invite.
