They're AD is a racist *******. 58-56`s friend Marcos was discriminated against too.

Quote:In Kazemi's waiver request, he claimed that Greenspan told Marcos to "recruit more terrorists" on multiple occasions. He also alleged that when talking in Arabic to another player that Greenspan asked if they were having an "Al-Qaeda meeting."
When Morcos wore a traditional Middle Eastern gown as part of a team function for Halloween, Kazemi alleged in the waiver request that Greenspan told the assistant, "All you need is a backpack and you are ready to bomb the school." On multiple road trips, Kazemi claimed that Greenspan directed airport security to thoroughly search the bags of him, Oraby and Ibrahim because of their Middle Eastern heritage.
Kazemi also accused Greenspan of telling him and other players in January 2012, "We only need one more guy to complete the Axis of Evil."
Another time, Kazemi alleged he was talking in a foreign language to another player and Morcos when Greenspan walked by and told them, "Stop speaking in this language because you could be plotting against us.
On the other hand, it could all be false, and Marcos is behind it.
Those evil University of American Birmingham players beat us every time.
It sounds like he was joking way too much and it got old really quick. I don't think the guy is racist. My guess is he made that joke around other middle easterners who would laugh and didn't take it seriously, so he figured he could make similar comments around the players and he just assumed they thought it was funny.
Yeah, it's not racism if you are joking. 01-wingedeagle

Well, there is a difference between saying things out of hate vs. saying things out of ignorance. Both are not very good, but there is a difference.

So you are saying that he mistakenly thought his basketball players were members of Al Quieda
On the one hand, we have a racist AD who somehow rose to the top of a profession in which African-American athletes are present at four times or more the rate of African-Americans in the U.S. population.

On the other, we have a known runner, a known liar, an individual banned from high school coaching for unethical practices and rule-breaking.

This is all a little too convenient for Phil Knight U. I would like to see this thoroughly investigated and publicly aired. Because otherwise, BCS programs have just found the loophole to loot non-BCS squads of their best non-Caucasian athletes.
I thought Rice was too smart to get wrapped up in a story like this.

We don't get to gloat: if not for Brian Mackin taking out Davis' trash before the damage got as bad as it did at Rice, that could easily be UAB taking this heat. Recall the many, many statements on this very board by fans upset that UAB has "standards that are too high" as in, "waaah, why didn't we sign Tamir Jackson???"

Our banners are clean. And it takes constant vigilance to keep them that way.

Well, the AD is denying the accusations. However, the damage has been done.
What did Pops Jackson have to do with this? Was he implicated in anything? Even our new coach wants it eased up and it will happen. It will start happening on a case by case basis and its about time.

He's a Morcos client. Anyone connected to Marco is tainted. We dodged some serious trouble.

Now that Morcos is unemployed and living in Houston, I wonder if he's looked up a former employer? They deserve each other.
Lol true.

Did you even read any of his comments?

Yes I did. They sounded like crass comments by someone who doesn't know any better and is too high up for people to tell him he's wrong. Stereotyping, yes. Racism? Sure. But there's a difference between saying Jews are good with money and wanting to exterminate them.

My point is racism is a spectrum, and its unlikely that the AD fell on the "hateful side" and more on the "ignorant" side. He's making comments that to him seem to be light-hearted ribbing and joking and no one dares tell him that they're racially insensitive, based on offensive stereotypes, and inappropriate.

Vs. if he were hateful racist he would have said "Don't recruit anymore ragheads. They're all terrorists and I hate them".

When you specifically ask security to specially screen your own players at the airport on the way to a game, that's not being a light-hearted jokester...that's being a hateful racist.

When you refer to three players on your team as the Axis of Evil, that's being a hateful racist.

Mike Davis was a racist? never thought that, dang...I guess anything possible....well good thing Mackin took care of that...hmmmmm.
Quote:Mike Davis was a racist?

Yes, as was team captain Paul Delaney III, according to Morcos client Terrence Roderick.

Wokka wokka.

Most racists today don't realize they are racist. They make racist jokes in the name of harmless fun without caring how it is received. They also defend it.
