Quote:At the house, investigators found books about autism and Asperger's syndrome as well as an NRA guide to pistol shooting.

Police said they found a smashed computer hard drive and a gaming console in Lanza's bedroom. An unnamed source told investigators that Lanza was an avid gamer who played "Call of Duty" and other games and rarely left his home.

Investigators found articles on other shootings and a holiday card containing a check made out to Adam Lanza for the purchase of a firearm, authored by his mother, Nancy Lanza.

Documents indicate that authorities found a gun safe with shotgun shells and numerous boxes of bullets. In a bedroom closet, they found ear plugs, a handwritten note regarding ammunition and magazines, paperwork on guns and a metal bayonet.

In a top drawer of a filing cabinet, they found paper targets. In a duffel bag, they found ear and eye protection, binoculars, numerous other paper targets and Lanza's NRA certificate.

Authorities found numerous knives, including samurai swords. They found a military-style uniform in Lanza's bedroom and handwritten notes containing the addresses of local gun shops.
Most of the comments on Yahoo were directed at just how pointless this article was, and how useless the information was that it did actually provide.

This is just sensationalism, nothing meaningful.
The article called what he had an arsenal, but I wouldn't. He had less than most gun enthusiasts do.

Clearly we need to reduce the clip size in video games and have a background check on first person shooters..

These hollywood and entertainment folks drive me nuts. They make movies and video that are basically violence porn. Make *millions upon millions* which they use to pay armed body guards. The then turn around and say guns are bad things for you and me.

I don't believe there is any evidence of a link between these video games and actual violence. Penn & Teller debunked this a few years back, so if there is nothing more recent...

More likely the mind altering prescription drugs that put you in a surreal, video game state than the video games themselves. The prescription drugs seem to be the common link in all of these. Need to probably take a look at those and psychology as a science as well. With the amount of scripts they write, it has gone from helping people to an absolute junk science of prescription trial and error.

Wow, indeed. Bullets, ear plugs, handwritten notes, duffle bags, knives, and paper targets.

Absolutely, incredibly nothing to see here.

Tom would wet the bed every night in cold sweats if he saw my "arsenal" which is used to protect my livestock and my family.

If you really want to be scared just consider the armed drones buzzing your head or the enriched plutonium a-bombs sitting in every corner of the world.

Are we to honestly believe that the video game "Call of Duty" had more to do with the killing of these children than the actual weapons that were used in the massacre?

And books! Don't forget books. I bet that's what has these statists so upset.
I just finished reading it. Kinda pointless really. It doesn't matter what was at his house, nor does it really matter what he used in the shooting. Gun crimes are down across the board and tragedies like these strike a note with people, seemingly making them seem more prevalent than they really are.
No law or set of laws can protect any of us from a mentally unstable person. This guy was seriously disturbed, and would have found some other way to kill if guns weren't available. Hell you can drive around town and buy everything you need to blow up an entire building in a matter of hours, all without raising an eyebrow from authorities. I'd like to see some common sense laws regarding mental health and weapons, but it's hard to imagine law that would have kept someone this deranged from killing.
It will be interesting to see the final findings and hopefully they will include some of his medical history, diagnosis, and family information. I hope they spend some time on the mother as well, finding out what she did or should have done differently regarding her son and weapons. It's pretty common sense to me that if you know you kid is unstable to not introduce him to firearms the way his parents seemingly did.

If what was in the house doesn't matter, why then would they even waste the time and money to look in the house?

And we honestly believe violence porn played and watched by teenagers has no impact on their behavior? Why is one freedom restrictable and the other sacred?

You make a great point Ever! We drug little boys for acting like little boys, we feed them violence 24*7 in TV in video games and when they end up dysfunctional enough to kill other kids we start blaming the tools.

Kids have had violence and guns for centuries without thing s like the recent rash, I don;t think either is the primary reason but for some reasons the lefties are focusing in on the guns..

I was talking about the guns that were in the house that don't matter. This has to do with his mental state and what pushed him to commit murder, not about what weapons were used.
