Playing Paraguay, tonight in Quito. A win puts us back in second place just under Argentina in CONMEBOL. Gotta win, at home! Vamos Ecuador. ¡Si, se puede!
1-1 at the half. Ecuador, clearly the better team, but they don't award points for riding time. I know all y'all are sitting at the edge of your seats on this one! 'Xcuse me, while I talk to myself.
wow. what a 2nd half by Ecuador.
looks like Argentina, Ecuador, and Colombia(good for them) are almost sure things at this point. Sad to see Paraguay in last but they are only 4 points off the 4th spot and 3 points off the playoffs spot.
Uruguay going into Santiago is a massive match tonight.
Uruguay should be in the top 4, and qualify. Ecuador has 6 qualifying matches left, two at home. I was surprised to see Bolivia pull off a tie with Argentina. We're still 4 pts. behind Argentina and in second place, but face both Colombia and Argentina again.

But it doesnt matter if you finish first. You just gotta stay in the Top 4. You'll really have to choke one out not to get there.

With 2 out of 7 remaining qualifying games at home in Quito, it's still not a slam dunk by any means. Especially since the top 5 are that close in points, and Ecuador's Goal Differential is pretty good, but not that much. Gotta win at home (and it's Argentina plus Uruguay), and take at least two on the road, (and two of those are AT Colombia). Still have some more to do to qualify.
The points aren't really that close. Ecuador is 5 pts and +9 from the playoff spot and 7 pts and +10 from dropping out all together. Of course yall could collapse and fall out but its not likely.

Gotta get 3 points in Lima, and it's pretty much a lock. We do play Argentina at home, again, so there's always reason for concern.
When is the last time Ecuador played in the World Cup? For them, playing in one in South America would probably be huge.

After a long, long drought (1950 but withdrew), Ecuador finally qualified and played in both the 2002 and 2006 World Cups played in South Korea and Germany, respectively. In 2006, we made it to the knock out stages for the first time with wins over Poland and Costa Rica. We're solid again, this year, so we'll see how it translates in to '14.
Tonight 21h:10 in Lima. Ecuador vs. Peru. ¡Vamos Tricolor! ¡Vamos Ecuadorrrrrrrrr! ¡A ganar, y 3 puntos mas! ¡Si, se puede!
We blew chunks, last night, losing 0-1 to Peru, in Lima, and dropping a good chance to pick up 3 of the ~5 points we still need to classify for the '14 World Cup in Brazil. Of the 5 remaining WCQ matches, on two are at home in Quito. Next Tueday's against Argentina and the next to final qualifying match of the year for us, October 11 against Uruguay. So, it's:

June 11 - in Quito vs. Argentina
September 6 - @ Colombia
September 10 - @ Bolivia
October 11 - in Quito vs. Uruguay
October 15 - @ Chile

We can still do it. Si, se puede. But last night's set back was disappointing to watch.
We kick it off in Quito against Argentina in 10 minutes. Colombia's already scored against Peru, and will probably get to 23 points. Playing at home, we just have to get at least a point with a tie. Even that would drop us to third place. A win, and we'd be ecstatic. C'mon Ecuador. ¡Pilas!

ya'll are all but safe. with your game in hand. You do need to stop giving up 4th minute penalties though.

Ain't it the truth!? After tumbling against Germany, then slumbering against Peru, there's cause for concern. We're beginning to show our stuff, again for about the last 30 minutes of the 1st half.

TBH, yall owned Germany for the last 70 minutes. The Peru game was a worry. Still Mascherano giving yall a free red card today was good.

it was a sad day for me though. Denmark lost to Armenia 4-0 and basically took themselves out of WC2014. I love Morten Olsen, but it is time for him to go.

Ouch. It doesn't look good for Denmark, since they'd pretty much have to win out which would include a win over Italy. Still is mathematically possible though.

its a bad cycle for us. Bleeding the youngsters but the older guys(Jacobsen, Krohn-Deli, Rommedahl) have dramatically dropped off. Doesn't help that Kjaer has regressed so much over the last year.
