Never heard of 'Mexico and 'Tri' in the same sentence. Nationalism is great.......for.....a.......self centered, it's all about me stuff, I suppose, is the only explanation as to why Mexico would claim exclusive rights to "tricolor". Anyway, we face Uruguay at home, and Chile on the road. Una Selección que no gana en casa ha de quedarse en casa cuando venga Brasil 2014. Most of your internet translators will probably butcher that, but it's idiomatically and grammatically correct, in Spanish. It's still not a slam dunk, we're in, but I still like our chanches.

That the US is already in, makes it all that more sweet, come 2014. I've never forgiven Brazil for the cheap shot on us in the '94 Mundial. Pode o deus conceder-lhes sua dívida.
Next Friday afternoon's game vs. Uruguay at home has been sold out for several weeks. The "palcos" (balcony exclusives) are not available even with the scalpers. The 'tribunas' can be had for $US 80 each, and the 'generales' for $US 40 each. We waited too long to get our tickets and have decided to watch it on TV, and hopefully run out on our terrazza to listen to the roar from the stadium every time Ecuador scores a goal.

I was reticent to even post about it, not wanting to jinx us, but couldn't resist. This one's huge. Hope we get to join the U.S.A. in Brazil '14.
How much is it gonna suck that COlombia misses every world cup for almost 20 years and now they get to be a seeded team due to the new FIFA world cup seeding rules. 4 of the 8 seeded teams will be south american from the looks of it.(Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Colombia).

One of those poor bastards is gonna the worst group of death in WC history.

Argentina, Holland, Cote d'Ivorie, and England is possible depending on how they separate the pots since UEFA will need one full pot and one partial pot.
Hot.......! Got seats for the Friday afternoon match vs. Uruguay! Got to. Bow neck. Man up. Pónte los pantalones. Nada de maríca. Do this. Vamos Ecuador. ¡Si, se puede! 3 punts o al carajo.

Colombia qualified and played in the '94 (USA) and '98 (France) World Cups, though they entered with their heads high, and left with their tails low in the '94 Cup in L.A.

Early lunch with friends in QuiCentro, then to Atahualpa Stadium for Uruguay vs. Ecuador. Hottest ticket in town today. The scalpers are running the table, and people are upset they can't get in. Go Ecuador! Let's do this!
I ******* hate Italy. Hate them with the power of every ounce of my body.
I'm with you on the Italian jobs, aTxTIGER, but it looks like they'll be in Brazil. Please allow me to dance a little with Ecuador's qualifying today. Montero's goal and a 1-0 victory over Uruguay virtually sends Ecuador to the World Cup 2014 in Brazil. Gracias a Jefferson Montero por hacer vibrar al país. We sat the whole first half in the rain, got our butts soaked, regardless of the ponchos, but it was worth it. ¡Que viva, Ecuador!

Last Q match for Ecuador: We're in, if:
•Ecuador win vs. Chile
•Ecuador tie vs. Chile
•Uruguay lose vs. Argentina
•Ecuador lose vs. Chile and Uruguay win over Argentina by less than 6 goal margin.

The latter an unlikely scenario, but still mathematically possible. I would rather not have to play Jordan to get in.
I smell a 1-1 draw in Santiago
We'd certainly welcome a draw, but Chile's aggressive style of play is "no guts, no blue chips", all or nothing. It's why their record shows only one draw this 'temporada'. We come out of there with a draw, it's definitely a w for us.

On the other hand, ironically for Uruguay, we are the more difficult side for them to overtake considering points and goal differential. The Uruguayans should be pulling for us despite their defeat in Quito last Friday.
Does Chile still play the same 3-4-3 formation the used last WC? Man, they were fun to watch. That team was just pounding the opposing box. Of course, they gave up a counter attack every time, but it was still fun to watch.
Ecuador loses in Chile, but qualifies for Brazil 2014 anyway. Congrats, QuitoTiger!

Yes, an off and on variation, aTxTIGER, and they ARE fun to watch. I wish we'd adopt some of the same mentality.

Thanks, PlainTiger. We'll take it, and enter in at 'zero' like all the rest, but I was pretty much disappointed in how we had to get in. We have some huge improvements to make if we hope to advance in Brazil. Still, it's sweet to be in it.
Ecuador vs. Australia momentarily in a friendly. Vamos chicos! ¡Pilas!
I've already turned it off. We're getting our arse handed to us 0-3 in the first half, and there's certainly more Australian goals to come. Bunch a momma's boys.

Do they really only have one forward on the team?

Pretty much. Our other one died last year.

Oh, dear.
LOL - 3-3 now in the 86 minute - might want to turn it back on
