but if he did, I would expect Robert Dallimore to succeed him. He knows Coach Foley's system, and does a lot of the coaching now. If he doesn't replace Coach Foley, I look for him to have some opportunities as a head coaching job somewhere in the next few years. He does have fairly young children, so he might not want to move until they're out of high school, which would be five or six years.
I don't see Coach Foley leaving, but if a Tennessee or someone of that magnitude came calling where he thought he might have a chance at a national championship, it might be tempting to him. But I just hope he makes this his home for the rest of his career. A class coach and a class guy.04-cheers

Boy you sure believe in Chris not having to do a coaching search, don't you. Chris should give you a raise(a private sky box). I know nothing about Dallimore. He may be a genius, and may be a clone of Foley. But the sheer fact that he's on the staff of a great coach doesn't necessarily mean that he'll be one also. I remind you that's how we ended up with Shields for ten years of very mediocre basketball. He's been a very average coach(win-loss wise)and evidently we made no effort to look for anyone else when Porter left.

If Foley or any other coach leaves, Chris should do an all out coaching search, and try to find the best person he can find. That's his job. To hell with this moving an assistant up every time.
Just speculating. Not suggesting!

I'd vote for Dalimore as well. If Foley were to leave a tremendously successful program, why would you want to rock the boat? Dalimore would continue what Foley has been doing. Would he be nearly as successful? Who knows, but why start from scratch when you can possibly continue the successful road we are on? If a coach gets fired, due to lack of success, that's a whole different story.
That makes some sense. If he's been doing a lot of the recruiting and coaching and has learned Coach Foley's system, it might make sense to go that route. Of course he might leave for another job, and then come back when and if Coach Foley ever retired or left.
First of all, simply because a coach works for a successful coach, doesn't guarantee that he would be a good coach. Dallimore might be a great coach, I don't know, but why are you guys so damn determined that Chris not do his job and do a coaching search if there is an opening. I've never seen people so determined to keep everything in this cozy little Trojan "family." That might be part of the problem here. Everybody might be a little to cozy to make any changes.

I've been around a lot of coaches in my career, and I have seen a lot of assistant coaches, some who worked for good successful coaches, completely change things when they got a head coaching job. Many times they will coach the style of game they like and maybe are the most familiar with or prefer, irregardless of what the coach they worked for used.
I would have no objection to Chris doing a legitimate search for a coach. Hopefully he will when the opportunity ever arises. I don't see him having to make any kind of decision on either basketball coach for awhile. I don't know anything about the baseball or other sports and really don't care.
