I pulled up the Big East stats. If you compare Hicks to the seven footer, Aaron Gray, Gray is leading the BE in rebounds at 10.4 rpg to Hicks 9.4 rpg (4th in BE). But Hicks leads the BE in blocked shots and has exactly the same ppg average as Gray, not to mention he's 6 inches shorter. And to top it all off.......Hicks leads the BE in offensive rebounds. In fact, if you pull up the rebound leaders in the BE........Hicks overall numbers smoke them all in the blocked shots, offensive rebounds, and scoring categories. He is far and away the most productive big man, offensively AND defensively in the Big East. And I'm not blowing smoke. He deserves first team all Big East. If they look at numbers other than scoring, Hicks should get first team if they're comparing big men in the league.
What about HIcks rebounding average in league play? I think it might be 10+. I know it was 10+ 3 or 4 games ago.
they have 7 players on each team? I wouldve thought it was 5. Here is my list

No way Gansey is ahead of Pittsnogle.

I think Hicks gets first team if they look at big men. Again, his stats are better OVERALL than any big man in the Big East except Pittsnogle, and he isn't really a true big man - he plays on the perimeter more often than not.
and Josh Boone is a beast

Its not about if you are a big man or not, its the 5 best players. And it also isnt all about stats. Hicks stats wouldnt be nearly as good if he played for UConn.

Pittsnogle has better stats than Gansey and is a bigger problem for opponents in terms of matchup.

And Hicks doesn't play for UConn, but considering how up and down Armstrong and Boone have been in rebounding (check yesterday's game), Calhoun probably wishes he had a Hicks.

Stop taling about stats, it makes i t sound like you dont watch the games. Its hard to average 10 rebounds a game when you have Armstrong, Boone, Gay, Brown, Adren, Nelson, Anderson, and even Marcus Williams is a very good rebounding guard. Calhoun doesnt need Hicks, he already has too many players for his own good. I dont care if Pittsnoggle has better stats than Gansey, Gansey is a better player by a long shot. Gansey is a great defender and is the best shooter in the Big East.

...uh......Villanova has a couple of good shooters.......don't forget.

I still think Ganseys better, but I detract my statement that hes the best shooter. I think Novak is the best shooter.

So why is Quincy Douby on your list?

Cuz I think he is one of the 5 best players in the league.
Amen to that about Quincy Douby. 1st teamer in my book.
Wonder where Hicks would check in if you asked league coaches to vote in order of preference of who they would want to start with if they were building a team?

I think they'd all recognize it -- without Hicks and his desire, UC wouldn't have even made it into the Big East tournament.

Yeah, but if Quincy Douby was on UConn, his stats wouldn't be as good as they were either. But then again, you could make the argument that since Eric is our only post threat, he constantly gets double teamed and his points are harder to come by.

If Steve Novak were on UConn his stats wouldn't be what they are now.

If Taquan Dean were on UConn his stats.......

If Quincy Douby were on..........

If Michael Jordan were on........

We could play this game all day. 03-yawn
