Georgia Tech lost one of its top assistants, as quarterbacks coach/B-backs coach Brian Bohannon has left to become the first head coach at Kennesaw State. It's unfortunate timing, as spring practice starts today, but the good news is coach Paul Johnson is more than capable of handling both positions until he hires a replacement for Bohannon. There is no timetable for the hire, according to a school spokesman.

The biggest thing that will be missed is Bohannon's chemistry with Johnson. He was entering his sixth season at Georgia Tech and had also worked with Johnson at Navy. The two had worked together so long that Bohannon practically knew what he was thinking. Still, it was an opportunity to be a head coach at a fledgling program, and Bohannon didn't have to leave his home to do it.

"I am excited for Brian and Melanie," Johnson said in a prepared statement. "He has been a big part of our success the past 17 years. I'm glad he has an opportunity to run his own program."

Kennesaw State will start play in 2015, according to the Associated Press.
Congrats!
